Positive Reviews

Superbly Located

The Roxburghe is quietly located in the heart of the city, a short walk from the castle, conveniently placed for shopping, and the attractions of Edinburgh. A superb venue for wedding celebrations, the hotel also offers great facilities for the business traveller who wishes to hold a successful conference. The gym and spa facilities are a bonus.

Excellent Accommodation

Guests who stay in a club room have access to the club lounge free tea, coffee and soft drinks and free wine, beer and canapés each evening. Rooms are of good size, and well equipped. A couple spending their first anniversary at the hotel where they had held their wedding were charmed to be allocated the room where they had spent their wedding night.

Attentive Staff

Nothing seems to be too much trouble for the excellent multinational staff. The price of food and drink at the Roxburghe is reasonable, and the quality of a very high standard. The level of service is excellent, giving an “olde world” feeling.

Negative Reviews

Noises Off

In one of the rooms you can hear everything happening out on the street, especially in the early hours. Noise of music from an event held in the hotel intruded until late. The waste disposal unit in the bathroom was very noisy and the shower incredibly small Guests were disturbed at 8:30 am by housekeeping staff who wished to clean the room.

Update needed for Swimmers

The pool needs to be updated. The fee for car parking is over priced even for Edinburgh However there is free parking on the roads around the hotel and the square opposite from Saturday evening until Monday morning.

The Infamous Grouse

Did not like the breakfast: everything was over cooked “Why was porridge called oatmeal?? This is Edinburgh the capital of Scotland, not North America ”.
