55/RIO Hotel Copacabana (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)

The hotel is right across the street from Copacabana Beach. Ipanema Beach is also only 15 minutes away on foot. As well, the neighbourhood seems relatively safe.

Considering the location, the prices of the rooms at the hotel are quite affordable. This is a convenient place to stay while in Rio, especially if you're on a tight budget.

Unlike in other hotels, you will enjoy breakfast on the 12th floor! That's right; you can take in the magical view of Ipanema Beach right from your breakfast table. The quality of the breakfast is also okay.

The Wi-Fi here is extremely poor and. In some cases, it may be completely non-existent. Even changing rooms won't help, as the situation is the same in all parts of the hotel. If you have to use the Internet, you would be ready to explore other options.

The hotel has clearly seen better days, and it's in an extremely poor state as far as maintenance is concerned. The décor looks tired (from the lobby to the rooms). The elevators are constantly malfunctioning, and slow when operating. The AC is unreliable at best. While there is some renovation going on, though, it doesn't seem to be enough.

The lobby is heavy with the smell from the street outside. Some of the walls, windows, and staircases are visibly dirty. Although the rooms and bathrooms are a bit cleaner, it's not to an acceptable standard.
