Originally built in 1950, the two-star Anchorage Grand Hotel has been renovated to blend the original structure with modern amenities.
Each of the two-room suites comes equipped with a sofa bed, work desk, and a dining area, along with a full kitchen. Amenities include Wi-Fi access, hairdryer, ironing facilities, telephone, and two televisions.
Front desk services are available 24 hours a day. Guests can also take advantage of a business centre, onsite laundry facilities with dry cleaning services, and complimentary parking. Stays at the hotel include access to Anchorage’s premier health club.
A complimentary continental breakfast is delivered to the rooms at the Anchorage Grand Hotel every morning. There are also vending machines onsite with snacks and drinks.
Located in downtown Anchorage, this hotel is within walking distance of the Performing Arts Center, Convention Center, and the Museum of History and Art. It is also adjacent to the coastal trail for walking and the Alaska Railroad Depot.
This hotel offers lots of good views, but many travellers appreciate it more for its convenient location. Right around the corner from the train depot, guests can hit the nearby coastal path for relaxing walks or get into downtown Anchorage for restaurants and entertainment.
Guestrooms offer plenty of space.
The private rooms have plenty of room to stretch out in, so everyone is very comfortable during their stay. Online reviews state that due to the space, the hotel is suitable for quick visits or for longer stays too.
Property is in good shape.
Plenty of facilities are offered to guests at this hotel including a business centre and laundry room. Guestrooms are also well equipped to cover all the needs a person may have during their stay.
Train whistles day and night.
Because of its proximity to the train station, guests will be dealing with frequent whistles. This creates a particularly noisy challenge for people with rooms facing the depot that have to keep windows open for ventilation.
Breakfast is a bit of a joke.
Morning meals are delivered in a sack to rooms daily instead of served in a dedicated room. As a result, there are very few items included in the continental breakfast and what is offered isn’t really fresh.
Older building is not handicap friendly.
Converted apartments make up this hotel and the decor doesn’t seem to have been updated since then, according to guests. What is worse is that visitors have to deal with steep staircases and no lift, so it is not a very handicap accessible property.
