This charming historic inn offers a truly memorable stay, distinguished by its inviting front porch adorned with rocking chairs, a signature feature that guests consistently highlight for its relaxing ambiance. The property is celebrated for its excellent location, providing easy access to downtown attractions, its comfortable accommodations, and the exceptional hospitality provided by the staff. It is an ideal choice for couples seeking a romantic retreat, sightseers eager to explore the local area, and anyone desiring a relaxing escape with a touch of historical charm. To ensure a peaceful night's sleep, guests might consider requesting a room located away from the street, and it is highly recommended to partake in the popular social hour to fully experience the inn's welcoming atmosphere.
Facilities & Amenities
Guests frequently praise the inn's inviting common areas, which are beautifully decorated with antiques and offer comfortable spaces for relaxation. The expansive front porch with its numerous rocking chairs is a beloved feature, providing a perfect spot to unwind, read, or simply observe the surroundings. For convenience, a dedicated coffee/tea bar is available 24/7, offering unlimited coffee, water, and soft drinks, complemented by a guest refrigerator and an ice machine on each floor. While the historic nature of the building means there is no elevator, which some older guests found challenging for carrying luggage to upper floors, the overall charm and thoughtful amenities contribute significantly to a pleasant stay.
Cleanliness & Room Comfort
The inn consistently receives high marks for its clean rooms and overall tidiness, ensuring a pleasant environment for guests. Most guests find the beds to be exceptionally comfortable, often highlighting the quality linens that contribute to a restful night's sleep, though a few found the mattresses to be on the firmer side. While many rooms are described as spacious, some guests noted that certain bathrooms can be quite small or cramped, with some featuring corner showers or sinks located outside the bathroom area. Noise levels can vary; rooms facing the street may experience noisy traffic and occasional sirens, and the historic radiators can also produce noisy sounds. Individual air conditioning units are present, with some being older and louder than others.
Dining & Food Quality
Feedback on breakfast is mixed, reflecting a recent change in service. While many past guests raved about the delicious, home-cooked, and varied on-site breakfast, including quiche and Belgian waffles, current reviews indicate that the inn no longer serves breakfast on-site due to staffing changes. Instead, guests are provided with a $10 voucher for a nearby restaurant, which some found insufficient to cover the full cost of a meal and not as convenient as an on-site option. However, the popular social hour remains a highlight, offering complimentary beverages such as beer, wine, and seltzer, along with snacks and appetizers. This event is widely appreciated as a delightful way to unwind and socialize with other guests.
Location & Accessibility
The inn's central location is a significant advantage, placing guests within easy walking distance of downtown Hendersonville. This prime spot allows convenient access to a wide array of shops, restaurants, and local attractions, making it easy to explore the area without needing a car. Guests appreciate being able to stroll to dinner or browse the boutiques just steps away. While on-site parking is available and generally considered a perk, some guests noted that spaces can be limited, and the proximity to a busy street means that traffic noise can be noticeable, particularly in front-facing rooms. Despite this, the convenience of the location is consistently praised as a major draw.
Staff & Service
The friendly staff and owners consistently receive glowing reviews for their exceptional hospitality and attentiveness. Guests frequently describe them as helpful, attentive, and incredibly accommodating, often going above and beyond to ensure a comfortable stay. Many reviewers highlight the quick check-in process and the staff's willingness to assist with last-minute reservations or special requests, such as room upgrades. They are also praised for providing valuable local recommendations for dining and activities. The staff's dedication was particularly evident during a severe storm, where they provided essential support, including food and water, to stranded guests, reinforcing the feeling of being treated like family.
Additional Information
As a historic property dating back to the 1880s, the inn possesses unique charm, though some guests noted that its age contributes to quirks like creaking floors and occasional pipe noises. A significant point of feedback revolves around the cancellation policy, which is strictly enforced with a seven-day notice requirement, leading to disappointment for guests who had to cancel with less time. While some guests mentioned the availability of spa services, this is not a universally highlighted feature. The inn's response during a major storm where guests were provided with food and shelter despite power outages was highly commended, showcasing a strong commitment to guest welfare during emergencies.
