Exceptionally clean and conveniently located to both west and east entrances to Glacier National Park. Master bedroom and full bath on ground level with kitchen, 1/2 bath, and living space located upstairs. Taller folks might find kitchen space somewhat uncomfortable to work in and regular rail traffic nearby are the only downsides to this fantastic home base for a great Glacier NP getaway! We’d definitely stay here again and enthusiastically recommend to others!

We enjoyed staying at Roz’s place after long days exploring Glacier. Location is almost equal distance to East and West Glacier. It was clean, bed was comfortable, and kitchen well equipped to cook anything. Temps dropped while we were there, so it was nice to use the gas fireplace to make it cozy warm. Roz and Mike are friendly and easy to work with. They are great resources about the park. Highly recommend!!

Comfortable and accessible to Glacier

Great place to explore Glacier national park. Really enjoyed it here. Be sure to check out Izaak Walton Inn for dinner / breakfast just a few miles away.

Loved it a lot.

Mike and Roz were fantastic hosts and their home is in a perfect location for us to easily explore as much of Glacier National Park as one can do in only 5 days. My mom and I stocked up on groceries in Whitefish, hiked both east and west Glacier, and came back to the rental to cook dinner (we used the propane grill most evenings), have wine, and relax. We would have loved to use the firepit, but we were just too tired! We carried the bear spray that Roz and Mike had provided and (thankfully) never had the occasion to use it. This was the perfect spot for our first trip to Glacier!

Ideal location and perfect hosts!

Property is great and remote. Owners were friendly and helpful. Theres a fire-pit and wood on-site. Quick scenic drives to hiking and parks. Strongly recommend staying here for Glacier park trips.

Great stay in Essex

This is not the “carriage house” or “cabin” the owners claim in the description, but it is in a beautiful area just outside of Glacier National Park. The photos are cropped to hide the fact that it is actually connected to their main home, and both allegedly “private” balconies overlook their main home, meaning you often see and hear them while you try to enjoy the view of the forest. We never even used the fire pit because, despite the photo on the listing that suggests relative seclusion, it’s essentially their front yard. Not exactly relaxing to roast marshmallows when your view is the owners watching television!Also, the queen bed we intended to use—the hidden one in the photos—was locked our first night, so we had to sleep downstairs in the less comfortable room for our first night while we waited for them to respond and unlock the bed. Be sure to ask then to unlock it before you come. Having said all of that, everything seems fairly new and we had no problem with the kitchen or the bathroom. They even gave us marshmallows and cookies and wine when we checked in. Wifi was bad, as they said, but who needs wifi when you’re in Glacier?! If only we’d had the promised privacy. I’d say this place is good for families, but not couples looking for anything resembling solitude. Honestly? The whole experience was pretty awkward.

Beautiful Location, Zero Privacy

We loved staying in the heart of Glacier and this wonderful luxury was amazing. It is beautiful, comfortable and Roz and Mike are a great couple who can point you in the right direction for sights to see. I highly recommend this place to stay, and enjoy this piece of heaven.

A little piece of heaven.

My family and I enjoyed a few nights here during our time in Montana. The central access to both sides of Glacier National Park made it easy to explore the parks amenities.We loved the comfort, cleanliness, and quiet of the cabin. The kitchen was helpful to prepare snacks/meals for the long days in the park and dinners after a full day of hiking. We also enjoyed sitting around the fire pit during the cool evening hours. The owners were accessible and accommodating. They helped give us directions and the quickest routes., which was very helpful! We are thankful for such an enjoyable stay.

Great access to Glacier National Park

Our stay in Roz and Mike's cottage was wonderful. There were four of us (2 adults and 2 teens) and we were all very comfortable as the floor plan is well designed. We stayed in the downstairs bedroom while the teens stayed in the living room (which has a bed that is easy to roll out, use, and roll back away to keep the space tidy). The kitchen was amazingly stocked with pots, pans, and knives. We easily cooked dinner in the space. She even provided bear spray and wine for us! The access to a washer/dryer was also nice after a day of muddy hiking! Roz was welcoming and only a few steps away next door while not ever intruding or hovering. The cottage is nestled into a wonderfully wooded area and is a great location for accessing either southern edges of Glacier National Park. Our only disappointment was slow WiFi, but it meant that we truly got away on our vacation and enjoyed one another's company that much more. We would gladly stay here again!

Wonderful space in a beautiful area

If you want to be centrally located between both the East and West side entrances of the park, this home is perfect. We spent a good amount of time in the town Whitefish and did other activities on the west side as well did all of our hiking on the east side of the park. Because we were traveling to both sides, this home was perfect, since it isn't a short drive from end to end. Being centrally located helped with travel time. If you plan on spending equal amount of time on both sides of the park, this secluded home is perfect for you. Roz/Mike were extremely kind and welcoming and made us feel very comfortable during our stay but mostly left us to our own business which was perfect. We were a group of 4 males and we were comfortable space-wise. I'd recommend this home to anyone looking for a comfortable stay emersed in nature.

Great home in a central location

What an AWESOME place. Mike and Roz were very accommodating. They left us a sweet welcome note and basket. This is a perfect get away spot.

GREAT!!

We enjoyed our stay last week in Hayesville. The location is perfect for traveling to both the east and west entrances of Glacier National Park. The property appears fairly new, is clean and comfortable although a bit quirky. Entrance is through a very clean and tidy garage space. The bedroom, full bath and laundry facilities are located on the main floor. The bedrom is equipped with a queen bed and a set of bunkbeds. Up a flight of stairs you will find the large living space and kitchen/dining area. The living area has a hidden space where a queen sized bed is tucked away and easily accessible. The slanted ceiling in the kitchen area made it difficult for my 6 ft. husband and very tall 6 ft. 5 inch son to access the sink and stove but that served as their argument to be excused from dish washing and cooking duties. A full sized refrigerator with icemaker can be found in the kitchen. A television, fireplace and outdoor fire pit are available but we did not utilize them. The wifi, although available, was very slow but we were there to enjoy the park and the beauty of the surrounding area so were not terribly bothered by the lack of internet speed/access. This issue was not unique to Hayesville; wifi and cell service was limited throughout the area. There is railroad track nearby and we did hear the associated noise but we were not disturbed or kept awake by the rail traffic.Roz and Mike who live in the attached home were very nice, and attentive to our needs without being intrusive. We enjoyed a friendly coversation with them as we checked out and would have stayed and additional couple of days were the space available. Overall our stay was comfortable and we found Hayesville to be a good home base location for touring the park. Roz and Mike were very kind host and we will not hesitate to use their accomodations again when we return to visit the spectacular Glacier National Park and surrounding area.

Great Glacier Base Camp

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Roz and Mike were super hosts and very gracious to answer questions and provide information as we planned our hikes. The house is centrally located between the East and West Glacier entrances so both areas of the park are easily accessible. The accommodations were very comfortable and a great place to relax after a full day in the park.

Essex Carriage House

Roz was great as a hostess and the rental was wonderful. We were there for a race and sightseeing and it made a great base.

Great getaway!!

My wife and son stayed, it was conveniently placed halfway in-between east and west glacier. It made both ends of the park accessible. There is river and Creek access nearby. The owners let us use the garage, which was nice in the winter conditions. It is a nice big loft, with a great view and a handy little balcony.

Great view, convenient, comfortable.

Went on a mountain vacation to go skiing, both cross country and snowboarding. Was conveniently close to both. Was only my boyfriend and myself, but could've definitely fit another couple. Has a great little kitchen and dining area for when we didn't want to go anywhere. Two balconies. We were able to cuddle up at night in front of the fire watching old movies, after our exhausting days of skiing. There is a great little restaurant not far away in an historic train stop called the Isaak Walton. The owners of the property live there full time so were able to give tips on different locations to visit and check out on the days we didn't have anything planned. Definitely want to go back during the summer.

Beautiful Vista

Spent the week here and it was a great experience. Beautiful views of the mountains. Close to Glacier Park. Rafting location right down the street. Plenty of parking for a lot of guest.

Amazing trip

The experience I had here was awesome! The cabin is gorgeous with awesome mountain views. The cabin is perfectly located between East and West Glacier! I can't wait to go back next summer!!
