We so enjoyed our vacation at this cabin. The views are breathtaking and the cabin is very well-stocked and cozy. It was a great place to go and unplug for a few days. We would love to come back! The owners are very genuine and definitely have the gift of hospitality!

The beauty and perfection of this paradise is impossible to describe with words or pictures! The view is incredible, the atmosphere is so relaxing and refreshing, the cabin so perfect, and the owners are the nicest people you will ever meet. We loved seeing wildlife every day, hiking, and exploring the endless towns and all the things to do and see. Mostly we enjoyed just relaxing in the cabin. God’s incredible handiwork

This property was absolutely amazing! The view is incredible! The property is very quiet and it is a great spot to go for a getaway. If you are looking to spend some time in a peaceful setting, or just looking to disconnect, I would highly recommend this cabin. John and his wife are some of the most genuine people I've ever met!

Great cabin

This cabin is amazing and we enjoyed our stay so much! We are already talking about when to come again and we will definitely be back. The place is very clean and has everything you need and more. The property manager John and his wife Lynn are very sweet and made sure that we found it ok and we’re all set for the weekend. So peaceful and fun to see all the wildlife. Enjoyed it all and can’t wait to come back!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay. The cabin is beautiful and immaculate! Anything you need is inside. The drive is beautiful and the views are picture perfect. Deer and wild turkeys frequent the yard. The owners are such lovely people who welcomed us when we got there were there to say goodbye when we left. None of us wanted to go, but we will definitely be back!!!

Stunning views

The scenery was magnificent, the cabin spotless. 2 Big bucks and 10-12 doe came to visit us while we were there as well as 30+ wild turkey. The bird bath was always full of different birds, even the turkey perched there. There was an identification book for birds in the hutch which we found very helpful. We have already recommended this cabin to our friends and family. Don’t hesitate to rent it for yourself.

Abundant Wildlife

Too good to be true log cabin escape for the family. Clean, very well kept, amazing views, exceptional host nearby for any questions. Such a cute and cozy cabin. Everything we hoped it would be for us and our two kids 3 and 5. They loved the bunk room. We all enjoyed the games and puzzles to do together. Hiking the area was a hit with the kids. They didn’t watch ANY tv or electronics for 2 full days! Master bedroom is large and roomy and has a comfortable king bed. Kitchen and bathrooms are updated and very nice for a remote cabin. If you go PLEASE help take good care of it so that we can go back! Best value I have seen in a VRBO rental. Thank you John!

Perfect family getaway

Loved the cabin and hosts! The cabin was decorated very nicely and beds were very comfortable. The hosts were very friendly and provided numerous kitchen staples. The remoteness was great, but remember to bring groceries as restaurants are 30+ minutes away on very winding country roads with lots of deer. Some local favorite restaurants were closed after Labor Day.

Great cabin - very remote

Roomy and rustic with modern appliances, well-stocked supplies and tasteful touches of home, John and Lynn have worked hard to create a warm and inviting space that encourages calm, serene reflection. This amazing mountain retreat boasts impressive mountain views and breathtaking night skies. Taking time to explore the grounds, watching for wildlife through the course of the day and searching for the “perfect” addition to the rock wall were all bonuses to our stay. We hope to return soon to enjoy this peaceful get-away!

Fantastic!

My wife and I had plans to visit local attractions such as Royal Gorge, etc., but this Cabin on 70 acres was so nice, with such a beautiful view of 13 and 14,000 foot peaks, we only left for supplies! Great hiking on the property as well. We hope to return.

Perfect getaway

The cabin exceeded all of our expectations. It was very clean, extremely well stocked and in a beautiful location. The owners were very helpful and super nice to talk to. We wish we could have stayed longer.

Wonderful cabin

If you want a reprieve from the hustle and bustle of life, this is the place for you. It was a perfect mountain get away. John and his wife have worked hard to make this a home away from home for their guests. From the night time sky and sparkling stars to the impressive front porch views of blue sky and mountains, you are bound to find some inner peace. The cabin is decorated nicely and the beds are very comfortable. Our time there was short. I wished I would have had a day or two longer to spend in the area and this house. By far, one of the best places I have stayed at.

Breathtaking and restful

We loved staying on this property! The cabin was roomy and well organized with modern touches. We enjoyed hiking around the property and how quiet and peaceful it was! We were unfamiliar with the Colorado geography and this property wasn't as much in the mountains as we thought, but it has a beautiful view of the mountain ranges! Another thing that we enjoyed but didn't expect is that the owners are onsite, but by the end of the trip they made us feel like family and we would love to bring our kids back with us next time!

Amazing property!

We have stayed at many cabins before but it's easy to say this was our favorite. It's tucked away in the mountains looking over the valley to the mountain range. A++++ to the owners and their family cabin!

Family Vacation

The cabin was amazing. Clean, beautiful with a wonderful view that is hard to beat. The cabin has everything you need and the beds are very comfortable. AT&T cell service was great. We had no issues with that at all. John and his wife were very nice and accommodated our very late arrival up the dirt road after dark (and it was very dark!) and met us to show us around the place. They live in a cabin a few yards from the rental so I’m sure we interrupted their night routine but were very gracious about it. My grand daughter and I enjoyed hiking around the property and we saw many animals and birds and two bunnies that stay around the front yard. It was so very quiet also. The wind in the trees is beautiful to hear and a nice change from the city. It’s a good 15 degrees cooler up on the mountain at the cabin, so there is no a/c but with the windows open it wasn’t a problem. All in all a fantastic trip and wonderfulplace to call home for a few days. Don’t forget to pick a rock on your hike and put it on the rock wall in the front. A nice touch to commemorate your stay.

Beautiful

Drive was long, but at journeys end...what an amazing location. You are truly on top of the mountains at 8,000ft. Cabin is a little intimidating (with three boys) because inside it is beautifully decorated, modern with granite countertops; yet so very welcoming and homey. The boys hiked and we had an antlered deer come by the front porch. Everything that was promised was delivered. Thank you John and his wife for sharing the cabin with us.

Incredible view and amazing cabin

What a wonderful place! Everything here is beautiful, and so well put together. And the view, the view is magnificent. Wonderful people, And the deer came right into the yard. If your wanting a place away from hustle and bustle, this is it! I loved this place!!

Everything wonderful

John greeted us when we arrived and gave us a quick tour of the property and cabin. This was wonderful and he made us feel very welcome! The cabin itself is even better than the pictures. The kitchen is well stocked and everything was beautifully finished. The cabin has a nice selection of games and a nice table to play them on. It was very peaceful (we loved sitting on the porch) and the property was fun to explore. My boys had a great time scrambling up rocks and hiking around! We even got to see a deer and a group of wild turkeys. Overall, our stay at this cabin was one of our favorite parts of our vacation!

Beautiful cabin and scenery!

If your use to the hustle and bustle of the city life, this cabin will take your breath away. Nice and quiet place to get away from it all. The only thing you can hear is the wind blowing threw the pines. This cabin has everything you need. Saw turkey and deer almost everyday. A lot of land to explore on. Things we did while we were there. River rafting, ATV riding, Jeep and train tour of the Royal Gorge, shopping, horse shoes (on the property) and played games at night to unwind. John and Lynn were great hosts. It was great to visit with them and learn a little bit about the area and their lives. We definitely will be back again. We highly recommend this cabin. If I could give it 10 stars I definitely would. Thank you very much for making our vacation very memorable.

Breath taking view

The cabin had a million dollar view and it was updated to provide all the comforts of a 5 star stay. John and Lynn are the most gracious hosts. Not only did I enjoy the mountains and my family in nearby Canon City, but I also enjoyed making new friends with John and Lynn!

My family and I had the best experience staying at this cabin. From the smallest details to the beautiful view of the snow cap mountains, our stay was exceptional. The owners showed us the warmest hospitality and made sure we had everything we needed.

Gorgeous Cabin and Scenery

Our family had a terrific time at this property. The cabin itself was beautiful, clean and comfortable. The owners were very polite and courteous. Our children had a fantastic time playing and exploring outside. We were able to enjoy our morning coffee while watching turkeys in the yard and while taking in the beautiful mountain views. We also saw deer. On the second night of our stay it rained, but we were able to enjoy a fire in the wood stove while playing some of the provided games in the cabin. A wonderful experience that we would highly recommend.

Relaxation and Wildlife

The property and location keep us coming back! The property owners make us feel like family and that’s a plus because we feel at home! We love the mountains and the cooler weather! So much to do! Salida, Beuna Vista, Westcliffe, Cañon City and the antique shopping in Florence is a blast! If you’re daring enough to take the drive to Gunnison through the Monarch Pass be sure the weather is permitting or you could get stuck in blizzard like weather!

Return customers!

Perfect cabin to spend a weekend with my dad and brother! Close enough to stop at a grocery store in Canon City to stock up, and remote enough to feel like you are truly out in nature. Great hiking immediately out the back door, and driving distance to more organized trails as well! I hope to be back soon with my young children, as the cabin would be great for kids too with all the fun wildlife.

Father-Sons Getaway Weekend

All 4 of us agreed that we would love to stay here again. Everything about the cabin is OVER the top wonderful. Close to Westcliffe & Cañon City and not far from Manitou Springs & Colorado Springs. Beds, appliances, views, hiking around the cabin and solitude - all wrapped up into one!

AWESOME views, PERFECT cabin in the woods, GREAT hosts!!

Beautiful, roomy and well decorated log cabin in the mountains between Salida and Canon City. Large front deck that has one of the best mountain views (San De Cristos) we have seen in Colorado, plus turkey and deer that drop by from time to time. We spent three nights here, enjoyed driving through the surrounding countryside, checking out Salida, the antique stores in Florence and the Abbey in Canon City. Our hosts, John and Lynn, were most gracious and made us feel like old friends. Highly recommended.

Quiet time in the mountains

Can't get any better. Remote but worth the drive. The log cabin has everything, including the most outstanding view. The hosts are gracious and they just might become your new friends.

We stayed here over the weekend and did not leave the property. The views from the front porch are mind blowing (the pictures do not do it justice). The cabin was fully stocked with the essentials, all we had to do is bring the food. The owners keep this place very clean as well. Tranquil retreat

AWESOME views

My husband and I could not have asked for a more perfect cabin to getaway in! The cabin had everything we needed for our 4 night stay. It was VERY clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. We spent most of our time taking in the stunning 'post-card' views from the front porch swing, sitting in front of the wood burning stove and piecing together several puzzles the cabin had to offer. John and Lynn were excellent hosts and we thoroughly enjoyed our conversations with them. We will definitely be spreading the word about this gem to our families!

Amazing!!

This cabin is absolutely perfect! It is even better than the photos. The hosts clearly put a lot of love and attention into every detail of the house and the property. My husband and I and two young sons spent two nights here just enjoying nature. The boys were thrilled to see turkeys in the front yard in the morning and the multitude of birds around the property was lovely. The boys have already asked when we can go back!

We enjoyed our stay at this log cabin in Cotopaxi and would recommend it for anyone looking to get away and enjoy the beautiful scenery. It is remote for us city folks" - 30 minutes to the store on dirt roads so plan accordingly. The payoff for the remoteness is the peace and beauty of the location. We enjoyed sitting on the porch and watching the birds while we enjoyed the view. The cabin itself had everything we needed to cook and hang out. We enjoyed going into Salida and Canon City for lunch. John and Lynn were friendly hosts who live on the property during the week and were very helpful when we had a car issue. We look forward to visiting again!"

Wonderful cabin in a beautiful location

This is the second time we've stayed here and it did not disappoint. This year we didn't even drive away from the property. The area is so beautiful and the changing weather made it constantly new. I did walk for several miles in the area daily but the most fun was just watching the animals in the yard. The birds and turkeys were entertaining and the big bucks (a 14 point and two 10 points) calmly grazed a few yards from us. The cabin was just perfect, it was spacious, clean and very well appointed. Things couldn't have been better.

Breathtaking!!!

Our family needed a quick getaway and this was the ideal location. Central location to lots of activities in the Canon City area. Great view of the Sangra De Christo mountains each day along with a visit from turkeys and Bucky" the deer. We didn't spend nearly enough time at the cabin…however our next stay will be longer with plans to remain at the cabin for extended periods of time to relax and enjoy the scenery and nature. The owners are extremely nice and friendly and the cabin has every convenience you would possibly needs! Definitely recommend this cabin as an ideal vacation spot!"

Beautiful Mountain Retreat!

We loved our stay at this cabin. The views are great. It is quiet and peaceful here. The wildlife is amazing. It was easy to leave technology in the house and just relax on the porch. We book several places a year and this might be the best furnished place we have ever stayed. We have already recommended it to our friends and family and hope to come back again. Great place to go and leave work or stress behind.

Excellent

We were very blessed to stay at the Bartelmay's Colorado cabin last week. Our Texas kids had never seen the mountains, and we were looking for the perfect place to take in God's beautiful creation together. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay! The property was beautiful, the view breathtaking, the cabin immaculate and cozy, the owners ever so gracious. We wanted something remote, which I know is not everyone's cup of tea. The closest restaurant is a little over half an hour away, but that didn't bother us since we grocery shopped in Salida on the way in. The cabin is VERY well stocked, with all the kitchen equipment and even grocery staples supplied (sugar, spices, some condiments, coffee filters, etc). So if you plan ahead, there's not much need for nearby restaurants. If you do want to venture out, Salida is a wonderful little town about an hour away. We'd recommend eating at Moonlight Pizza and Brewpub...very cool open-air place with live music and great food.Our big excursion was to whitewater raft as a family, and we found Journey Quest to be the perfect outfitter. They are the closest to the cabin (located at Hwy. 69 and 50 intersection), the most affordable, and were very professional, safety-conscious, and personable. I'd highly recommend them! We have kids from age 14 down to 4, but because of the time of year and water level, all of them were allowed to raft with us on the 1/2 day Bighorn Sheep Canyon stretch. It was a blast! Just enough rapids to be exciting, but not a nerve-wracking experience for our first rafting attempt. We also tried the Royal Gorge Bridge on the way out through Canon City. It was pretty neat, but overpriced in my opinion, for what you get. Only some of us chose to actually go in while the others waited in the air-conditioned gift shop.As for the cabin itself, we loved the wildlife. So many new bird species to identify that we don't have in Texas, lots of wild turkeys that roamed close, bunnies, deer, lizards. We did a few small hikes on site...no real trails, but not hard to navigate your way back to the cabin. The stargazing at night was incredible. The porch swing and chairs were a great place to just relax and enjoy the breeze.The owners, John and Lynn, are so kind and gracious. We enjoyed meeting them and visiting with them. They have truly paid attention to detail in the remodeling and decorating of the cabin. Thank you, Bartelmays! Until we meet again.

Best vacation cabin in Canon City!

We had the best time on our stay! Lucky for us, John and Lynn were there when we arrived, and we loved getting to know them and hear about the cabin. It is so serene and comfortable. The cabin has everything you need for your stay. We loved the parade of turkeys in the morning, and on day two had deer come up to the bird bath for a drink! We hiked right on the property as well, and when we reached the top, got rewarded with a stunning view of Pike's Peak off in the distance. God 's creation is on full display at this property. Next time we come we will bring more food so we can just stay there, and not have to go down in to town. Loved every minute of our stay!! Amazing cabin in a wonderful location

We can't say enough about this cabin! This was our fifth time back and it truly feels like our home away from home. The owners are wonderful people, accommodating and easy to work with. The cabin is cute, cozy, clean and the location and views can't be beat. We look forward to coming back again and again!

Amazing as always!

This cabin was amazing! The views of the mountains from the front porch were breathtaking and the cabin was beautifully decorated. The location was private and serene. We loved exploring the rocks and the surrounding property. We visited the Royal Gorge Bridge and The Garden of the Gods during our stay. Both places are highly recommended. This cabin is a little piece of heaven and we hope to be able to visit again someday.

Top notch rental with lots of thoughtful conveniences and comforts!

This cabin and the site on which it's perched are truly a piece of heaven. The cabin is beautifully built and well-furnished. The scenery is nothing short of spectacular, and the location is remote, peaceful, and quiet. If you need to stay plugged into the real world, there is Wi-Fi in the house -- but why would you waste time on a computer when you can hike around the hills, or simply relax on the porch and take in the view? The owner/host is friendly and informative. He sent us the directions well in advance, and left a personal welcome note for us on the kitchen table. My only regret is that our schedule only allowed us to stay for two days. Next time, I'm coming back for a week!

We (myself, husband and 16-year-old son) spent a long weekend in early October at this wonderful cabin. We were thinking this was our 5th visit, and we hope to keep returning. We don't tend to repeat visit rentals as we love to explore new places, but this cabin is an exception. Everything is always perfect and the area could not be more beautiful! We were lucky enough to meet the owners in person on this trip and they are wonderful people. We feel so blessed to have found this place and hope to return again and again... as long as they will have us! :)

Fabulous stay - as always!

The only thing I regret is I shouldn't have left so much, I should have spent all my time just relaxing at the cabin! The big rocks that are all around the cabin are so much fun to explore and climb on, and the mountain view is wonderful! We loved being greeted by the wild turkeys and I loved the blue and black birds that came around often!

Amazing cabin with great landscape and a wonderful view!!!

This cabin and location are beyond my farthest expectations. It is secluded and at the same time near enough stores that with some planning it is perfect. The view from the porch of the distant mountain range is wonderful. We were visited by wild turkeys everyday and saw deer frequently on the roads and fields nearby. This was my third trip to the cabin" and unlike other places I have visited that weren't as good the second time this one is like a new experience every time. I would highly recommend this location to anyone wanting to escape and have a peaceful and restful vacation. I also got to meet the owners in person this trip and they too are outstanding

Excellent, beyond expectations.

This quaint little cabin was our piece of Heaven for 10 days. So peaceful and clean. The view from the front deck is breath taking. There were turkeys and beautiful birds in the yard each morning. We seen deer every night as we were driving back into the cabin. The location was perfect. We traveled to Pike's peak, St.Elmo( you must go there and feed the chipmunks). We took our RZRs with us drove out to trails. We were with in 90 minutes of everything we wanted to do. I can't wait to go back!!!

The cabin was exactly as described, we couldn't have been any happier with our stay. We enjoyed our stay very much. We had turkeys and deer in the front yard to enjoy viewing. Went for walks and exploring around the grounds on the boulders. Sat on the porch and just enjoyed the view.

Beautiful views

Very well kept big cabin on a mountain in the mountains. A nice 30min drive to all your needs. Royal Gorge is the closest attraction and white water rafting companies. Garden of the Gods and Pikes Peak and 7 Falls about an hour away. We used the kitchen almost every day for meals and had plenty of cookware and eatery. Was so thankful there was coffee too! Loved that it had all the amenities of home. Unbeatable views from the fantastic front porch!! We had great weather, a little rain but just perfect!

Beautiful cabin in the mountains

Very clean, spacious and well stocked (no need to worry about running out of towels or paper products). The pictures posted are 100% accurate and we appreciated the thoughtful decor and attention to detail. Our boys had fun finding animals bones, rock climbing and chasing lizards – lots to explore right on the property. We recommend the Royal Gorge, a visit to Buena Vista, have a picnic + go fishing at Cottonwood Lake (near BV), ride the tram at the Monarch Crest and buy a bucket of rocks for the kids to dig through at the Gold Mine Rock Shop in Canon City. Couple things to keep in mind…the drive from the main highway to the house is 30 minutes and another 10 minutes to the main part of Canon City. Also, the owners may stay overnight in the outbuilding next door on your last day. Just a little heads up for others that may wonder who is parked or knocking on the door towards the end of your stay. With that being said, they were friendly and easy to work with from beginning to end.

Peaceful, beautiful, spotless ... everything you'd want in a little Colorado mountain getaway.

Mountain Perfection !

This was the cleanest cabin we have ever stayed in! The owners were so accommodating and easy to work with. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here relaxing as a family, watching the flock of turkeys early in the morning and even the deer that walked right next to the cabin one evening. The only issues we had were no central air conditioning (during the first of July), and we were unable to get any Wi-Fi reception so had no cell phone service. Other than this, we loved it and would love to return someday!

Beautiful, Clean and Very Secluded!

We stayed for about four days on our Colorado tour. The cabin was about 30 min outside of town and very secluded. The intermittant wifi and cell signal were a little unexpected but we wanted to unplug" with the family so lots of board games and horseshoes it was. The cabin had absolutely everything we needed and the property is breathtaking. We were visited by turkeys and deer while there. We absolutely loved the ease of rental with the owner and it was very clean upon arrival. Made lots of memories and would recommend for families as there is plenty of space."

Secluded Beautiful Cabin

We had a great time here at the cabin. The views are amazing! The cabin is fully stocked with just about everything you could possibly need (we bought a colander and left for others to use). Super cozy and done very nicely. Lots of puzzles/games to pass the time too. We had lots of visitors including a flock of turkey. The area is very quiet. We did not have any issues with traffic or neighbors. It did get a little hot with the high's in the 90's but didn't take long to cool off with the windows open. I do wish we would have had a fan to draw in the cooler air upstairs. we had to go to bed hot one night (there is no A/C). The wifi was not great at all. you have to be in the corner of the dining room or the bedroom with the kind bed to get a weak signal and even when you got signal it was slow. I needed to use it for an hour for work but had a hard time. If you walk down the driveway closer to the other buildings the signal was way better... We didn't come here for the wifi so it wasn't a huge deal but it was disappointing. Overall we would stay here again especially if we didn't have plans to explore/venture out to Canon City or Colorado Springs. Having the ability to use a washer/dryer was great also!!

Quiet cabin in the mountains

This secluded three bedroom cabin located approximately 40 minutes from Canon City, CO, and approximately 20 minutes from the Royal Gorge park, is the absolutely perfect family getaway! The cabin is super cozy and well appointed with everything you could want. The home has been tastefully updated, and is very clean. This is a solid log cabin. The view is nothing less than fabulous! If you are looking for peace and quiet, in a picturesque private location where all you will hear is the birds chirping and the wind through the pine trees, this is it!

Wonderful

Driving to this cabin is a beautiful trip.John gave very good directions, just follow them up the dirt road to a wooded area, turn in the drive at the top of the hill it opens up to a full view of the mountains.Once inside you have everything you need. It is relaxing and inviting.Wildlife was every where, I am a bird watcher so I did not have to wait long till they showed up.Climb the big rocks on the back of the property to see even a better view of the mountains.At first light watch the mountain turn red with morning light,or watch the clouds roll over the mountain.If you get up around 1:00 A.M. you can see a sky filled with Stars. Wonderful stay in a beautiful setting.

Our stay was perfect! The cabin was super clean. The cabin had everything needed for a relaxing stay. The views were beautiful. This was the most relaxing vacation we've had. We felt Blessed to stay here!

amazing!!!

We have stayed at many cabins through VRBO. This was our favorite. It was the perfect place to play games, swing on the front porch, watch the mountains and stars , go on an adventure hike on the property, do puzzles, cook, and just relax with our family. The decor was beautiful and we want to live there. :) Thank you!

A gem of a family spot!

Loved everything about this place. The mountain view was my favourite. Very cozy cabin with all amenities. John was great to deal with. Very happy with our choice.

Very beautiful views.

This was a wonderful place! Everything you need in the kitchen - warm cozy decor. We thoroughly enjoyed out time here - cooked up a storm, hiked, rock hopped, horseback riding - enjoyed being disconnected from technology and being able to enjoy time as a family. Highly recommend - and would come back in a heartbeat! Thank you!!

LOVELY!

With comfortable beds, a well-equipped kitchen, and plenty of living space, this cabin had everything we needed for a lovely weekend with relatives. We enjoyed the private location, the gorgeous views and the tasteful decor. We also enjoyed browsing through antique stores in Florence and riding the train through the Royal Gorge. We hope to return to this beautiful spot someday soon!

Simply lovely

We loved this cabin. The flow of the whole house made so much sense. It allowed for lots of family time in the family room and kitchen areas, but was quiet in the bedrooms when it was time for sleep. The view and property were extraordinary" according to our 10 YO and we all agree. We could have roamed the property for the entire 5 days that we were there and it would have kept us occupied."

Great Cabin

This was our third stay at this cabin in the wilderness in just over a year - we love it that much! Everything about it is just perfect. It's remote, but that's one of the things we love about it - and the view from their porch is simply unmatched! The cabin itself has everything you could possibly need and then some. And the decorations are absolutely lovely! We had a great time - as always - and hope to continue returning in the future.

Amazing!!!

I have to say my favorite thing was setting on the porch with a cup of coffee and taking in the amazing views. My husband and I needed some down time and the location of this cabin could not have been any better, it was beautifully furnished and had everything that one would need. We would love to come back and bring family with us, it was just what we were looking for. John was amazing to rent from!!

Cabin was perfect in every way!!

My Wife & I spent an amazing week in this cabin in late spring '16. Upon our arrival we were treated to a 2 day snow storm that dumped a foot of snow in the mountains. The drive in to the cabin is an experience all its own. A 45 minute drive up what has to be one of the most stunning mountain roads anywhere. We were both oohing & ahhhhing, pointing & taking pics just like the tourists we were. Upon arriving at the cabin we made our way up the narrow pine tree lined driveway to find the snow covered cabin. To many the snow would've been a major inconvenience but for us it was truly a welcome adventure. The raw beauty of the snow covered mountains was something to behold & we enjoyed every second of it. The cabin itself was quaint, spotlessly clean, warm & welcoming. I'm a bit of a bed snob but the master bed was amazingly comfortable. Once the snowstorm lifted we were treated to a view to die for off the front deck & out the front windows. The Sange De Cristo Mountains stood massive & snowcapped & were the cherry on the sundae of our best vacation ever. We enjoyed the Royal Gorge Bridge park, a canyon who's name escapes me, pizza madness down in canon city & a few other local eateries & activities. However the cabin, the drive to it & the views from it were the Crown Jewels in this trip by far. To wrap up my effusive praise, I haven't been around the world but I've seen some beautiful & spectacular places in my time on this earth. But none compare to this. For us the mountains simply felt like home & their beauty was something we just couldn't get over. And after some serious discussions when we got home we decided we loved them so much that we were going to sell our home, property & business & move to the Colorado Rockies! It will be a process that takes some time but there's no where else we'd rather be.So to the owners a heartfelt thank you for sharing your amazing cabin with us. I know you run it as a business but in our case your business changed our lives!
