Quiet Setting Along A Beautiful Mountian Stream!

This cabin lived up to my expectations and more! It was absolutely beautiful. The reservations and the directions given were so easy too! We will be back!

Weekend get away.

My wife and I went to this cabin wanting to unplug and unwind and we got both. No internet, no cell and no tv. But by no means was this trip dull. The stream was amazing and the cabin was warm and clean. It has electricity and is well lit and comfortable. The kitchen has pots, pans, silverware, plates, etc. There is also a fridge and microwave. The hot water tank is smaller though so don’t plan on long showers. We explored the area and “town” too. The locals were nice and the area restaurant had great food. The cabin is secluded and we went in winter and were glad we had 4 wheel drive. Lots of deer and other wildlife. There are some board games in the cabin and I found out the hard way my wife is a Yahtzee master! It was a great vacation and we will be sure to come back.

Very Accomodating - Fully Stocked

The cabin is cozy and rustic, but by no means uncomfortable. You can hear the creek as soon as you pull up to the house and the view through the large cabin window is absolutely beautiful. It was colder than expected (28-34°F) when we visited and it was lovely to walk into the cabin with the gas fireplace already burning. The memory foam pad on the bed made for a wonderful night’s sleep. I was also impressed by the quality of pots/pans in the kitchen. There is no cell phone reception, so do a little research before you go. Rick did an excellent job providing us with directions as well. The near-by towns are picturesque and my only regret is we didn’t have more time to explore them. If visiting in winter and planning to hike, call ahead to the park to verify which trails are open. Overall, it was a wonderful experience!

Perfect quiet getaway

Awesome cabin, we want to return next year. The view outside, fireplace and river made our vacation a wonderful story.

Clean, quiet, nature

We had a lovely stay in October, right when the leaves were starting to turn. The cabin was very clean and comfortable. We loved sitting on the porch at night and watching the stars come out. The kitchen has everything you need to make a nice meal. We loved being so close to Ricketts Glen and Worlds End. We can't wait to go back!

Relaxing

Wonderful property in terms of locations & features however had a mouse problem that wasn't disclosed or taken care of in a professional manner. Cabin smelled like rotting creature in the enclosed porch & kitchen. By 11PM of the first day we had discovered mice in the kitchen & bath crawling through the rough cut plank board walls. There was poison in the cabin which we were not informed of. Luckily our dogs did not get into it or get hold of a poisoned mouse. Message to the owner discussing the issues went unanswered.

Left after 1st day, won't be back again

Quiet get away

Quiet wooded property next to flowing, gurgling creek. Shaded in early morning, sunny in the afternoon. House all lustrous wood flooring ,paneling and furniture is rustic. A beautiful kitchen with gas stove and great cookware. Fine bedroom mattress was quite comfortable. Bring your linens, food and bottled water.

Just what we needed, just hard to find at night. Follow there directions to the letter and look for the band on the tree.

Lovely setting near a stream. Very clean. Supplied with everything we needed. Only downside was the smell of the water in the shower.

This is a perfect cabin if you like a rustic feel with a large bathroom and a well equipped kitchen. It was exactly what we were looking for.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It was very welcoming & accommodating! The only things that could have been improved was the small plumbing leak near the toilet, a little more comfortable mattress. We also could not find a switch or remote to operate the ceiling fan. We left 1 night early because my wife injured her knee on a walking trail. She painted Welcome Home" rocks and left them for future visitors on the step."

Excursion

1985 on the outside, but refinished in pine and modernized on the inside. The cabin's open floor plan except for a bedroom and bathroom give it the feeling of being bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside. like Dr. Who's TARDIS. It has a large porch on the front with a picnic table and on the inside, a propane fireplace . The kitchen is spacious and well stocked with pans and dishes. They have a double bed, 2 couches, a table, and chairs. Outside you have a large fire pit, a barbecue grill, and of course, a creek to explore. The cabin is quiet and secluded, hidden from the road and surrounded by woods. All you hear is the birds calling and the song of the creek.I am sure there are fish in the pools of the creek, I have seen the young fish, so there must be mature ones there too.

Exactly what my brother and I were looking for to take his boys on a long weekend guys trip !! Clean small cabin that is secluded . Guys get away

We had a wonderful time at the cabin! We were looking for something that we could just take our 2 dogs and on wind for a few days. Having the Creek right there was awesome! We spend a lot of time down they are just throwing ball with the dogs and our chairs sitting in the water. This little getaway to the cabin was exactly what we needed and we're looking for. When we got there the cabin was very clean and everything was just as promised.Thank you so much!

No cell or internet service which was perfect for us! You never have to leave the cabin because there is so much to explore, but if you want to, 2 great parks right down the road. The sound of the stream made sleeping so peaceful. Per other reviews, the water definitely had a strange smell to it, but we took our own water as well. It’s definitely not a deterrent and I can’t wait to book this cabin again soon! Thank you so much!

The property is quiet, serene, and stunning in the wintertime. The cabin met all our needs for the weekend - our favorite parts being the large window overlooking the stream, the porch, and the overall coziness. We would definitely return!

A perfect refuge

We had such a wonderful stay at Rick & Candy's cabin. It's cozy, yet roomy and we loved that there was a propane fireplace inside. The picture window next to the dining table overlooks the creek directly next to the cabin which provides awesome scenery while you sip your coffee in the morning as the sun comes up. We spent most of our time exploring the area, and we loved coming back to the cabin to build a fire in the large pit overlooking the creek. We loved how the property was secluded and private - you can't see any neighboring buildings. We also enjoyed not having cell service/Internet so we could all be truly unplugged and just enjoy each other's company. We look forward to our next stay at this cabin. Thanks for having us!

Exactly the relaxing getaway we were looking for!

This was the best weekend we have had in a long time! This cabin is so cozy and so relaxing by the creek! Our stay was so fantastic. We will definitely be visiting the cabin again in the near future!

AMAZING!

My fiancee and I had a wondeful stay at this cabin, for the 2nd time now! It was the perfect place to getaway for a few days, and get engaged!!! Everything worked, gas stove and fireplace both with no problems. It was nice and toasty in the cabin while 12 degrees outside. The road and driveway were both plowed before our arrival even though it snowed a few days before. Overall, great stay!

The pictures do this place no justice. This place was absolutely breathtaking.

Host provided instructions to the wrong cabin, and was unreachable via the phone number provided, as well as by email and vrbo app. We were stranded for hours without an ability to get in. We eventually found the cabin they gave us the instructions to, and were confronted by a cleaning person the next day who said we were supposed to be out by 11, despite our reservation being for another day. She called the owner, who called the cabin and proceeded to yell at us for being in the wrong house and claiming we were in the wrong despite simply following their instructions. By far the worst experience I've had in a rental home.

Solitude walk or sit by a stream, peaceful sleep and too a lovely picture window view of it while eating or just sitting reading a book. Warm and cozy inside including fireplace, kitchen with some conveniences. Nice enclosed porch to read on while sipping hot coffee or tea. Just nice and simple, hope to visit again next year. Excellent, wonderful, relaxing little cabin getaway setting by a stream.

We had a nice enough time. The sound of the Black Creek running along was nice and we enjoyed the fire pit. Inside, things are set up nicely for a couple to relax & cook. But the water. It reeks of sulfur and lets out methane with big bursts. The sulfur stinks. Brushing your teeth with water that’s more like the scent of sewage than nice well water isn’t ideal and my partner wasn’t keen on showering in it. Additionally, the methane bubbles were intense. On the one hand it caused water to splash when the bubbles would burst out. More to the point, it’s flammable. A Gasland moment if there ever was one. When I got home I used the FracTracker app to spot fracking wells nearby. There are four fracked wells within a couple of miles. There’s good reason to believe the frack jobs (multiple at each site) caused all or at least more methane migration. Are there other contaminants that have migrated into the well? I hope not. But caution is in order.I hope the owners will encourage people to bring their own water with them and explain the sulfur & methane situation.

The setting is lovely, the interior fine, but the water. The water’s bad.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay. The cabin was perfect. Our pup loved splashing in the creek.

Quite beautiful retreat

We absolutely loved the cabin. The setting was very private and away from everything and everyone. The view of the creek from the cabin was amazing. The cabin was clean and had everything that was needed for a nice enjoyable stay. The only downfalls for us: we unfortunately had little critters visit while we were there, which made for sleepless evenings -- the owners assured us they would be taken care of though. I don't find that unusual for the setting. We were very disappointed that the fireplace did not work, hopefully it will be fully functioning by the time we come back -- and we will definitely be back! Would love to try out your other cabin! I agree with others that the grocery stores in Dushore leave a lot to be desired. We also recommed bringing water, as there is a strong sulfer smell with the water. Highly recommend visiting Ricketts Glen and The Forksville General Store -- excellent food! The owners are very nice and very responsive. Would highly recommend!

Beautiful Setting in the Woods

My husband and I needed a few days to unplug and rest, and this little place was perfect. Isolated, quiet (other than that fabulous creek), short drive to the state parks (although we mostly stayed at the cabin), a fantastic fire pit and all with a clean, heated cabin. It's 100% a dead zone, so if no cell service makes you nervous, it's probably not your best bet, but for us it was exactly what we needed. We met Rick on the way out and he's a wonderful host. We'll definitely be coming back for a longer stay now that we know it's totally worthwhile.

Really beautiful and quiet spot on a lovely creek. The cabin is clean and pretty well stocked with paper goods, dishes, pots and pans, utensils, fire wood. You'll need to bring blankets or sleeping bags for cool evenings, but the bed is comfy. No people around, which meant a lot to us busy New Yorkers. The grocery stores in Dushore leave a lot to be desired, so if you're going to be staying for longer than a couple of days, I'd suggest taking the time to drive down to the Weis market in Hughesville. You'll also pass Dincher's farmer's market, which is a great place to pick up fresh produce in the summer. No cell phone service at cabin, which took some getting used to but turned out to be a blessing. One suggestion to the Rexers: provide written instructions as to how to use propane stove and baseboard heating. We loved our stay and hope to return. Thank you.

Beautiful, rustic, quiet

I went to this cabin recently with my daughter. It was right after torrential downpours and road closures. It was a little challenging getting to the cabin because of this, and the driveway is very steep. I would not go to this cabin in something that isn't equipped with good tires or 4 wheel drive. It was very relaxing sleeping to the sound of the stream going by... which was a roaring creek when we were there. The cabin was decent, it had what we needed in the kitchen. The cabin is an open floor plan with a makeshift bedroom build in the corner. The loft was ok, my daughter liked going up there, but I would not let her sleep up there. The cabin is in a great location, you are not too far from anything that you would need. The only con to this stay was the horrible sulfur smell in the water, showers were few and brief. Definitely bring your own drinking water. Otherwise I think the cabin was decent.

Great location

Rick and Candy’s cabin was the perfect setting for our weekend getaway from the city. Although weather was iffy, we had plenty of time to enjoy the fire pit and river next to us. The space is ideal for couples, small families, or a group of close friends. As other reviewers have said, there is literally no cell service! Which we enjoyed. The cabin can be hard to find, so when Rick sends you directions pay attention and drive slowly. I also second another reviewer about adding a latch to the screen door - my dog kept trying to nose his way out. That said - it was the perfect place for us to come back to after hiking. We hope to come back again!

My husband and I stayed at this beautiful cabin off the beaten path to celebrate our anniversary. We enjoyed cooling off in the creek with our dog.It was a pleasure meeting Candy and her friend.Enjoyed quiet evenings by the fire listening to the creek. The cabin was comfortable and clean with many kitchen supplies to make your meals complete. We look forward to returning soon!Rick and Candy were very responsive to any questions we had. Quiet secluded cabin in the woods

This cabin is very quiet and my dogs loved playing around the woods and the creek and it's far away from tv and cell signal. The perfect get away!

The cabin and the setting was perfect!

As another guest mentioned, the pictures do not do this lovely cabin justice. The cabin was in great shape and very clean. Everything we might need was there and I realized I had over-packed. The location next to the stream was lovely and ideal. Even in 90 degree weather, without air conditioning, it was comfortable.My only suggestion is for the porch screen door to have a hook/loop closure on the inside so that I could make sure my dog didn’t nudge the screen door open.We look forward to staying again.

A peaceful retreat...

My boyfriend and I, and his dog stayed here this past weekend. After our tent camping weekend in Ricketts Glen got rained out, we found this cabin online and could not stop talking about how bad we hoped we could stay there after reading all the positive reviews. The reviews were 100% right! This cabin was clean and cozy, and stocked with anything we might need. The sound of the water was so relaxing and the fire pit was great. We were so sad when we left on Sunday! Already planning our next trip back, thank you for everything!

Wonderful Stay on Beautiful Property

This cabin is so lovely, the pictures do not do it justice. It is in such a beautiful, secluded location, you cannot see another house. The sound of the creek at night was so relaxing. The house was immaculately clean and well organized with everything you need to make a great meal. We loved the board games and cards, and just sitting on the large porch. It rained throughout our weekend, but we stayed warm and dry and loved the quiet. As another reviewer mentioned, the water does have a sulfur smell which is not dangerous but you may want to bring water if you're not used to it. I cannot recommend this cabin enough!

Paradise in the woods!

My boyfriend and I were lucky enough to book this little cabin a few weeks ago. It was nice and secluded and afforded us an opportunity to unplug from the world for a few days. Our dog enjoyed it as well!

Quaint, cozy getaway

I love this little cabin, perfect size for me and my dog-------just a short drive to World's End State Park for great hiking and another short drive to Dushore with some neat little mom and pop places to get something to eat plus don't forget to check out Forkville. The owners really take care of the place and it sits right on a beautiful stream with a great fire pit.

We loved staying at this cabin! It’s in a private quiet location and sitting right alongside a big creek that you can hear from inside. The cabin is very cozy and was well stocked, the owners thought of everything and you can tell they take good care of the place. Would definitely go back.

Rick and Candy were extremely accommodating, attentive, and gracious. The cabin was clean and well-kept. We stayed in some extremely cold weather. The cabin was warm and everything was ready for us when we arrived. The bed was comfortable and everything we needed for cooking was available. We even had a chance to chat with Rick and he was a great down to earth gentleman. Thanks again to Rick and Candy and we plan on staying again!!!

We Loved It!

very cozy, quite, hearing the stream flowing outside your windows is so amazing.it also has amazing views out the large window sitting at the dining room table.There are also a lot of neat places to visit a couple of miles away from the cabin.

Perfect Place in the Mountains

After the kids screamed as we turned onto and down the steep driveway.....they screamed again with excitement when they saw the beautiful creek!! And that's where they and their dog stayed for the next five days. I think they emptied most of the rocks in the stream to build dozens of rock stacks. :) The cabin was cozy with plenty of kitchen ware to suit most needs, and the screened in porch was a bonus since it rained the first few days! We made good use of the large fire ring (where did you get that? We want one!) to sit around on the last couple of cool nights to roast marshmallows. We visited Worlds End and Rickets Glen State Parks (definitely check out High Knob Overlook at night for unreal star gazing and the falls trail for more wonderful waterfalls than you can imagine) and both are just a short drive away! We highly recommend this cabin and its owners. PS. They are serious! There is zero cell service until you get to town. Oh how blissful!

There are no words to describe the magic of this place. If you are looking to truly disconnect and get away from the rat race, then look no further. The creek will be your soundtrack for your entire stay, and the trees will keep you company. No cell or internet service, but why would you want or need it at a place like this? Secluded getaway surrounded by nature

This was just what we needed! We spent our time sitting by the fire pit and listening to the stream. The cabin is even cuter than the pictures. My only recommendation for future visitors is to pick up some gallons of water for drinking. The water seems to have a lot of sulfur, or at least smells like it. I'm sure it can't be helped and is the nature of the location. We definitely plan on going back!!!

Fanatic quiet solitude

We had a wonderful time at this cabin! The owners are very nice and the property was incredibly peaceful and secluded. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon and luckily the storms didn't, so we went into town and bought some burger patties and other groceries at the Hurley's, which is a small but nice little grocery store. We grilled burgers and hotdogs on the propane grill in front of the cabin and then settled into a nice campfire at the fire pit. We bought some firewood off of Craigslist on our way (since they say you shouldn't transport wood more than 50 miles). We bought way too much (12 bundles, used 4) so we left the rest for the next family. We talked to Rick after and he might start selling it on the property, but otherwise there's wood available downtown and we only went through 2-3 bundles per night. The creek next to the cabin was incredibly peaceful - you can here it all the time, next to the fire and while you sleep if you crack a window. The cabin itself was very quaint and very hospitable. There's a full kitchen with a fridge, range, toaster and even a microwave and coffee maker. The ceiling fan keeps it fairly cool on a hot day. There's absolutely no cell phone service, but we saw that as a feature. It was nice to unplug. The only time we had an issue was when we ran out of propane for the grill on day 2, and I couldn't get in touch with the owners (but it was a Sunday night). I just took the tank 15 minutes into town and exchanged it at the Shell station for $20 (it's open 24/7). Candy was nice enough to drive by the next morning to reimburse us. We spent most of Sunday hiking the Loyalsock Trail to the Haystacks, which is a nice easy to moderate hike. Above all our dog Bear loved the trip. We were surrounded by acres of woods, though we had to make sure he didn't wander up to the road. But he loved going down to the creek, and hiking with us. He's very good and stays close so we let him off leash hiking Loyalsock but it was really busy so we put him back on when we saw people (they want dogs on leash all the time). But on the property he was off leash with no issues. Overall we loved our stay and wish we stayed longer. It was a much needed retreat from the day to day. The only other tip I'd have is that some suburbanites like us might not be used to the natural minerals in the well water, but I'm sure it's completely safe. If you prefer, buy a gallon or two of spring water downtown. Thanks Rick & Candy!

Mother Nature at her finest!

My family & I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were quite impressed with all the property had to offer. The dwelling was clean, well appointed and with no neighbors on top of you. The cabin is situated perfectly overlooking the creek, allowing us to enjoy nature even if my daughter wanted to stay inside. We had a great time and hope to return soon.

We got exactly what we were looking for. Peace, quiet and relaxation! With the creek right behind the house it was very peaceful to sit by a campfire while listening to the water. I would definitely stay again.

Tranquility

We've never been to Pennsylvania before and we went out on a limb and booked this cabin! What a wonderful idea! If there was anything you may have forgotten, it was most likely at the cabin, just in case. This cabin was right next to a creek/river, totally secluded and quiet, and it was just the most peaceful place we've ever been to. Exactly what we had in mind which made this trip so great. Definitely recommend staying here!

Wonderful weekend getaway!

What a beautiful, perfect place! The cabin is just perfect - comfortable and outfitted with everything needed for a mountain get-away! The cabin actually has more than I expected from other rentals I've done - a microwave and every kind of kitchen thing I could want. The location is so beautiful with the stream right next to the cabin, and a wonderful place for a fire right next to the creek and just steps away from the cabin. The cabin is so quiet, you can barely hear the rushing water inside. I LOVED the picture window looking out onto the creek. What a place to sit with a cup of coffee and enjoy the scenery. The skylights are awesome and let you see the stars at night, which is quite a treat in the darkness in this area. The driveway is actually great - I was a little concerned based on other comments, but it is very even - dirt and gravel, but no ruts or roots. Just steep, but not very long and a very nice parking area at the bottom with a great big street light that can be turned on inside the cabin. The whole place, the cabin and the driveway are obviously very well maintained. A lovely spot to rest and relax and a great midway point for lots of hiking and sightseeing. Gorgeous mountain get-away!

We had a wonderful stay at this cabin! When we arrived, the propane stove was already lit and we were immediately impressed with the natural beauty and private setting of the cabin. The type of place Bon iver would write an album, very  up in the woods and still vibe" The cabin's kitchen was fully stocked with all the cooking things you need. The most impressive part of the cabin was the window in the kitchen facing the beautiful stream. Minutes away from world's end state park which offers great hiking trails and beautiful vistas. The cabin bed was comfortable

Dushore Cabin Dream

We arrived on Thanksgiving day and our hosts were kind enough to let us check in early so we could begin cooking our holiday meal. With a little hiccup ( no propane ) resolved within an hour of our phone call to Rick and Candy, they had a new propane tank delivered and installed. We were able to cook our holiday dinner and enjoy the bubbling brook and peacefulness of the cabin. Unfortunatley due to a death in our family, we had to leave the very next day, two days short of our scheduled departure. We are hoping Rick and Candy will let us come back and finish out our stay. One suggestion for the cabin, it mentions to being sheets and towels, which we did, but blankets are also needed. We were fortunate and had packed sleeping bags. The bed in the bedroom is good for one person and the futon works much better for two adults. My small teenage daughter took the couch. If you have camp cots, you can fit a few in the loft area, and that is our plan for the next visit. Peaceful, clean and quiet. perfect place to reconnect with your family and enjoy the surrounding areas. We missed hiking, because of our early departure, but hope to hike Rickets Glenn next time

It was fun while it lasted

Your cabin was just what I was hoping for for a quiet week with nature and my dog. It was rustic but had all the comforts of home without the work of camping. I felt one with nature listening to the gentle trickle of the stream nearby which turned into a raging stream after a storm one night. The perfect white noise for sleeping. I appreciated the firewood left but would have loved to have had more as I didn't know where to get more. I did have enough for 1 night of a big fire in the huge firepit. The driveway is a little tricky but made it in one slow turn with a SUV. Could be tricky in winter and would definitely need 4 wheel drive. If you have ATT cell service you have to go a few miles down the main road to get any service so it will be nice when the land line is working in case of emergency. No TV or Internet but that's what I wanted. Will be back with my husband next time.

Rustic and Relaxing!

Enjoyed our stay. We are familiar with the area so we had lots already planned. The cabin is in a nice location, clean & very quiet. We were able to enjoy just relaxing & taking in the sounds of nature. We were also able to go out for hikes & sight seeing. You might consider bringing some bottled water along, also be prepared to take quick showers. This cabin was a very nice place to stay! Off the beaten path, yet close to whatever you may need. We will definitely keep this cabin in mind for a future trip to the area. Thank you for sharing your cabin!

Well kept, clean. Nice location, quiet, remote. Easy to rent.

Well maintained and very private, if your're looking to get away from the rat race this is it. Close to World's End and Ricketts GlennState Parks, plus your aren't far from a small town for supplies and places to eat. Can't wait to book my next trip here.
