We had a great time at Sharlene’s place. The private bay was a big hit! It was a short hike down a little trail which opened up to a quiet bay. We swam and fished there every day. Sharlene provided an aluminum boat and we brought a large inflatable boat. The deep fire pit was also a big plus, with s’mores all around. We played outdoor games in the volleyball area. The kids also played on the swing set on the property. Sharlene always answered my texts immediately and was very helpful. We would definitely recommend this for a family gathering. We had 6 adults, 4 kids and a dog.

We will be back, absolutely stunning, comfortable, relaxing and open! Sight to be seen, character oozes throughout, wholesome riches and cleverness all around! Love, LOVE Spirit of Curlew Lake!

The house was pretty clean. The only thing I would say was negative about the cleanliness is that it had a very musty moisture smell to it that hit you every time you walked in the house after being out and about. The house was very comfortable for my family of 4 as 2-3 other family members couldn’t make it last minute. Ultimately, I would stay again if I had 6-8 people coming along.

Sharlene's property has a beautiful view of Curlew Lake. It is very spacious and accommodated our large group with areas for kids, teens, and adults. I was impressed by the many extras provided: spices, condiments, a large variety of cooking pans and serving dishes, games for inside and out, plenty of paper towels and toilet paper. We had a wonderful time with our family and will return to this house if possible in the future.

Beautiful view of the lake. It was laid out with our comfort in mind. It was so easily accessible.

The location of the house and views were great. The house had lots of plants which left seeds all over the couches and floor which we had to constantly brush off. Another reason why we wouldn’t give this 5 stars is the internet was very slow. My husband tried to do some work remotely and could not use zoom. The communication was great but the cleanliness of the house and lack of internet made it not ideal.

The place was beautiful and comfortable. Very dreamy. It was so nice to have our whole family together.

Property is stunning. Love the layers, decor, views, and more. Clean and tidy, everything worked, plenty of room and easy access to everything the area has to offer. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for a remarkable and memorable visit.

The house was beautiful with spectacular views of the lake. The kitchen was a great place to gather with the family. Close to walking trail and not too far from town. Our host was very responsive with communications and helpful with questions. Would definitely recommend to others.

Wonderful stay

The house was perfectly situated for our cycling needs. Proximity to the rails to trails path was great. We loved heading in to Republic for beers at the Pub (Republic Brewery) and provisions at Andersons’ grocery store. Not to be missed was The Outfitters for an excellent eclectic selection of fabric, shoes, and clothing. Sharlene was extremely responsive to any questions we had and very helpful. Will definitely stay here again. It was warm and comfortable. We enjoyed cooking our meals in the well equipped kitchen. Such a special place!

Great cycling adventure base camp

This home is beautiful, spacious and comfortable. The lake is a bit of a hike and is easily done with teens and adults but small kid, not so much. It would have been a tiny bit better if the TV and VCR worked for late night kid videos but there was really plenty to do. The second fridge was a huge bonus with a large crowd! We did have to move quite a lot of knick knacks that were either light weight and could be easily knocked over or just plain breakable so the little people in our group did not touch, but nothing unmanageable. Overall, a great experience!!

Beautiful, spacious home with awesome views

As others have noted, the house is not on the shore, and the decor is quite quirky. But unless you want to step off the deck onto a dock, this is a perfect place to spend a vacation. Clean, airy, comfortable, plenty of space, plenty of beds and showers. Lovely view. We didn't bring a boat this time so it was perfect.

Great house in a great spot

Nice home with fantastic view. Some of the 90’s items need updating (TV, vhs tapes). Would be good to have a night stand on each side of the beds as well. Fishing dock is leaking polystyrene beads into the lake too causing unsightly plastic pollution (needs replacing asap).

Peaceful getaway

We have a family tradition where following Hoopfest, a huge basketball festival weekend, we rent a cabin or travel to fun destinations creating wonderful memories for our children and this property did not disappoint! The home was large and beautiful with lots to do for a big extended family like ours! Everything needed to partake in the many games and activities like ping pong, volley ball and horseshoes was provided. The owner was very welcoming, gave good written instructions for the water access, and invited us to use the kayaks which the kids loved! Fire wood was chopped and stacked for the fire pit where a smore feast was enjoyed each night. They even left some beautiful cherries for us that inspired a cobbler! The only drawback was the lack of internet and phone access, which made us appreciate the many games and fire pit even more! The owner said to text with questions but we could not get a signal at all. We had to drive 20 minuets or so into to the town to get Cell service. And while there were signs of internet accces such as a router it was not in service.

4th of July family fun

Great property. Perfect for multiple families. It is not that close to the water -- steep hike down trail. We went to nearby State Park to enjoy the lake with the kids. The rail trail is just down the road and offers a family friendly hike along the lake. Owner was helpful and responsive. Would definitely stay here again.

Great place in a beautiful setting.

The property was perfect for a large group! Everyone had plenty of space to move around and enjoy themselves. The view was amazing and so serene. The outdoor area around the house was great. The fire pit are perfect for everyone to fit comfortably. Sharlene was a great communicator and very responsive. She gave lots of helpful recommendations.

Great venue and house for a vacation weekend!

We had an amazing week. We also had a beautiful wedding for my niece! Perfect location for a large event and the owner was so easy to work with! Will definitely stay there again!!

Amazing! Relaxing!

We spent three nights at the Spirit of Lake Curlew with a large family group. There was enough room to accommodate everyone and still feel like we could escape to our own spaces, when necessary. The house is well-equipped with everything you might need to be comfortable, cook a full meal, and have fun, and the owner is responsive and provides excellent recommendations on things to do in and around the area. We spent a day kayaking from the State Park (just three miles up the road) and another day swimming at the Ol' Swimming Hole in the town of Curlew. The neighborhood is lovely and quiet for evening walks, but wear mosquito repellent! The house captures great views of the beautiful lake and surrounding hills.As a recommendation to future guests, bring an eye mask if you're sensitive to light when you sleep. The windows are large and the house is light-filled, so you will catch the early morning sun.

Beautiful Curlew Lake

I didn't actually get to stay here ( had to cancel) but just talking to the owner Sharlene and how wonderful she was and how easy she made everything for me was just the best. If anything else I'll make another reservation for a different time just because of her!

The best!

This vacation rental was wonderful. Everything was clean, well stocked, lots of extras like the Foosball table and kayaks, it was very well decorated and comfortable. The house boasts beautiful views and is roomy. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Wonderful all around!!

Accommodations and amenities were impeccable. All of the little touches made this a stay to rememberase. Access to the volleyball court, boat, kayaks, and other toys was amazing. Cabin has access to a lovely little private lagoon on the lake. I absolutely recommend!
