We were pleased with the spacious areas where we could accommodate large numbers of people. The kids had a grand time with the pool table. Card games in all areas of the house allowed for a lot of time to catch up with the lives of our relatives we don't often get to see. Summer would provide a better opportunity to use the boathouse and watercraft. The kids were so excited, they tried to schedule the fourth of July gathering there but unfortunately, others enjoy this spot too as it was booked for that time. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

Family Thanksgiving

This is our second time staying in this cabin. We used every inch of it and enjoyed all the different places to gather. Since it was November, we didn't use the lake, but it was cozy and the view of the lake was beautiful. Jim was great to work with. We had a great time.

Great place for a Board retreat

What a gem we found out in the Flint Hills of Kansas! A great place to get away from it all! There was plenty of room for our group of 10 adults. Unfortunately, we were only able to stay a short weekend, so we were not able to enjoy and experience the full potential of this beautiful cabin on the lake. We loved the boat house and the lake! Caught several fish in the lake while tooling around in one of the kayaks!We took several walks around the beautiful neighborhood and and met several wonderful people! Unfortunately, we did not have enough time to play a round on the local, beautiful, 9 hole golf course.Ate dinner one evening at the local restaurant across the lake, The Lodge Bar & Grill. The food was amazing! Make sure to order the Jalepeno Wontons and the Onion Rings! Everything else we ordered was also very good! Went back later and shared some of our homemade peach ice cream with the wonderful staff!

On Golden Pond" in the Flint Hills of Kansas"

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your lake house while we were in the area for the KSU football game. We had fun fishing and kayaking on the lake and taking walks through the neighborhood. Jim was always very responsive to questions and the house had everything we needed. Thank you for a fun weekend get away!

KSU Game weekend

We had a fantastic girls weekend. The owner was super easy to work with and always available for questions. The property had so much room and the boathouse was an awesome added bonus. We look forward to staying here again!

Great weekend

I stayed here with 4 family members and had friends come in for meals and fun times and the space was ideal. The boat house is charming, and we even liked the stairs. The pool table was a nice addition. Locals in the region were helpful and friendly. The kitchen is pretty well stocked, though the dishwasher doesn't work very well.

Beautiful location, large space, many options

Very enjoyable stay. The lake is clean, the fishing was pretty good, and it was pretty quiet and not overcrowded like so many of the lakes you visit. The pier is a great place to hang out, read, swim, fish. Also, for the golfers, the little 9-hole course that's just down the street is charming - beautiful vistas of the Flint Hills as you play. Very unique.

Hidden gem in the Flint Hills

The pictures did give an accurate depiction of the layout. We were pleasantly surprised by the roominess. Better written description would of helped too. My one complaint was a lot of the lamps did not work. Loved having the washer and dryer available

Roomy family friendly lakehouse

This was a nice property which more than accommodated our family of 5 - we didn't even use the room or space in the basement. We had a great week exploring the lake in our boat and playing games in the house in the evening. Checkin and check out was a breeze - and the house was nicely stocked for cooking. This property has everything we need - we would love to come back again!

Great Time in Kansas

We had a great long weekend at the lake! We were disappointed to learn that the kayaks were shared between 3 cabins and would have brought our own had we known. But other than that, it was a blast! We absolutely loved the boathouse.

loved it all! plenty of privacy, gorgeous flint hills, lots of room in the house for all...just perfect and only two hours from wichita and a fun place to eat close by in harveyville—“hellrayzers”! yes, spelled that way!

beautiful, relaxing, spacious get-away!

We had a wonderful long weekend at the cabin. Part of our group were hikers and managed to get in a couple of days of hiking and historic sites between the rainy days. The rest of us were more about staying in, remaining in where it was warm and dry and catching up with everything going on in our lives. We went to the Flint Hills Discovery Center in Manhattan, and of course a visit to a mall. Over all the property was clean, comfortable and well suited to our group that was multigenerational with ages of 11 to 72. There was access to amenities from games including pool to reading, visiting and outdoor activities such as hiking and history. It was off season for a lake home and was rainy and stormy but still met our needs. The owner was very concerned about our comfort and accommodating of our needs. we generally rent in different locations each year to be able to experience new locations and different experiences. I would not rule out spending time here again in the future.

Spring Break Kansas Style

The scenery and setting was beautiful. Side trips to Eskridge and Alma we’re fun. Very relaxing!

We had a family reunion this weekend and everyone was SOOOO happy with BOTH cabins that we rented. It worked out perfect. This one that sleeps 10 - was great cause it had a basement that gave us more room if it rained or if it was too hot to come there to eat supper! They all enjoyed it thoroughly! They'd do it again for sure!Great Place!

Loved the cabin!

This was my 3rd year going back to this property. It truly is a beautiful property. Very relaxing excellent place to disconnect. Owner was also awesome and very facilitating the whole time, very quick to respond to all of my requests and concerns.

Awesome Property

Driveway was very steep, and would be difficult for some people to walk up and down. The cleanliness of the home did not meet our expectations. Beds were not made up when we arrived and we did not have enough towels for more than 1 day, so we had to wash towels every day. The house has enough bedrooms and bathrooms to accommodate a large crowd, but the living room is small and seating for meals is insufficient.

Nice location on the lake, house not what we expected

We had a wonderful time with our family. The house and boat house is very nice with plenty of room for four families with kids. Our family loved having two kitchens and spent our evenings playing pool and hanging out in the basement. Now we all want our own pool table. The sunsets on the lake were gorgeous and the A/C and small refrigerator in the boathouse was an added bonus. There was one TV in the upstairs living room. Our only suggestion would be to maybe have another TV in the basement area. We like to watch movies together in the evenings and the downstairs area was larger for that. It was nice having the TV upstairs in the morning so the kids had something to watch while we made breakfast. We had to make a couple of runs to the nearest town of Eskridge for groceries. It was such a nice little friendly town and just a few minutes away. I would definitely recommend this lake house.

We loved it!

This was our families first time at Wabaunsee Lake. It was so much fun! The house was very nice and the boat dock was a hit with the kids jumping off into the water! Everyone was very friendly! We will definitely come back soon!

The Flint Hills and Wabaunsee Lake didn't disappoint!

We enjoyed our weekend at this cabin, everything worked properly inside it was clean and ready. Outside we had to clean the deck and stairs when we arrived, lots of spider webs, leaves, and debris. The grill was completely full of ashes and we had to clean it out in order to use it. The water near the boat house is deep which is nice, you can drive your boat right up. Getting from the dock down to the boat is a bit tricky as you have to climb a ladder, which prevented some people from being able to get in a boat. Overall very nice, the air conditioner in the boat house was really nice and allowed some of the older folks to be out near the water even on a hot day.

Our stay at Woodward Cabin #2 was all that we were hoping it would be. The house was quite comfortable and had full accommodations.

Great weekend getaway

We celebrated husbands 50th birthday at this cabin. Parents and siblings..no children. House was well stocked, sheets, towels, kitchen supplies, cleaning supplies. Plenty of space for games, meals, relaxing together or apart. Stairs to lake/fishing ...loads of stairs but we knew that before going in.

Beautiful location

Great family getaway. The cabin was comfortable and well appointed. The pool table was a lot of fun and was a bonus. The boathouse was like a living room on the water and served as a great place to enjoy the out of doors.

Great place

Had some issues at the beginning as I didn't get the code for the keys. Called the owner multiple times and not sure if it was a reception thing or he was busy. Eventually got the combination and was able to get in! I'd recommend placing more info on check in information page once people book. Otherwise had tons of fun!!! A few light bulbs needed changed on arrival but was able to find some in the cabin and change them out!! The instructions said bring sheets towels etc... but there was sheets and towels available to use so don't pack that extra stuff if you book! It was a great place to stay and the water was beautiful!!! The decks were equipped with patio furniture and was very relaxing sitting out there!!!

Excellent property. On a very nice little lake.

We have been vacationing here for 5 years, and, as always, thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The house is well-equipped, clean, and has plenty of room for the 8 of us. Fishing is fantastic right off the dock, and having the boathouse there is very convenient. The kids (and adults) always enjoy the swimming and jumping off the dock, as well as kayaking. It was a fabulous week, and we look forward to staying here again next year. Jim is an excellent host - very responsive and attentive to any needs or concerns. Lots of fun, relaxation and great memories!

Beautiful scenery

The cabin was was nice and the beds were great. I was a little scared that the air conditioner was going to stop working the filters were awfully dirty. You can't see the lake thru all the trees. Outside maintenance was lacking, so many spiders and webs. The patio cushions need to be replaced. Cute boathouse but very dirty.

Very nice cabin above the lake with full amenities and plenty of space. Also a nice lake house on the water to enjoy quiet time away from everything. We stayed here for the DirtyKanza race and being 40minutes from Emporia was well worth it in to be away from the noise and to quietly prepare and relax. Wonderful house in a wonderful location, thank you!

Kansas is beautiful

This was a friend reunion for six women, all over 60 years. It was beautiful. Walking around the lake was filled with dreams. It was also an opportunity to meet neighbors. So many useable spaces inside and outside. We played, cooked, listened to music and laughed. We shall return. Thanks, Jim.

For the past several years, we have enjoyed family vacations here. We, as well as our children and grandchildren, look forward to our week of fun and relaxation at this property. Awesome!

This was a great house for our family lakation! We had 8 adults and 6 children (age 7 and under). The house had lots of room and it was great to have 3 bathrooms. The house and dock were everything they were promised to be. The dock having shade so that people could get out of the sun for a break was a big plus and the sleeping quarters on the dock had air conditioning and a mini fridge that made a great place for the little ones to take a break from the heat. We brought food down to the dock and had lunch there every day. The owner was excellent to work with and very accommodating. We had a great time and plan to book this house again next year!

A Great Place for a Lake Vacation!

We had stayed at one of Jim's other rentals next door a few years back. We also loved that property when it was just our family of 3. This time we had extra family along, 4 adults and 2 young children. We had plenty of room and it was nice to have separate living areas as well as 2 kitchens. We really loved the boat house and spent a lot of time down there. Swimming, floating and taking our canoe out. We will be back again!! The sunsets and sunrises are just amazing from the boat house!!

AMAZING location!!

A well set up cabin with plenty of room. 3 full bathrooms make it a great place for medium sized groups. We spent a lot of time outside on 1 of the 2 decks. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes and meal prep essentials.

Beautiful getaway

This property is one-of-a-kind. It offers space indoor, on the decks and on the water for all to enjoy. The home is roomy and we ate out on the deck every night. We expected to be eaten up by bugs, but had no issues because of the breeze off the lake. Our grandsons fished, swam, rode in the boat and enjoyed every minute as did we. Jim is responsive, informative and could not have been a better host. This part of Kansas had escaped our notice for decades, but it truly is a gem. We will be back. Thanks Jim!!

Perfect location to go back in time with family

this is the third year we have stayed at this property, and it has become a family tradition. Plenty of room for the 8 of us (4 adults, 4 children). The house is well-equipped and comfortable. We love the peaceful setting, the fishing is great right off the dock (nearly 200 fish caught by all of us during the week, about 8 hours total fishing time), boating, swimming (the kids especially love jumping off the boat house dock)...Jim is an exceptional host and always responsive. Our grandchildren talk about their 'Kansas vacation' all year. We look forward to going back!

Wonderful!

The space is great. Well set up to grill and prep meals. The boathouse and kayaks made for easy access to the water. Jim was extremely accommodating – from getting our dates set to bringing in a firepit for our stay. I would definitely recommend this spot!

Great Spot for Family Time!

Unique location for a getaway. Cabin and area was quiet and nice. We had limited information about the cabin and few pictures to prep for expectations. (a good website could do wonders for your advertising business).. There was an extensive water leak in the plumbing from an upstairs bathroom cause a huge mess in the basement when we arrived. The owner made no effort to clean it up, give us a reduced rate or even warn us of it... fans running in standing water with the stink of mildew/mold... ridiculous... we made the best of that...We were told there was a fire pit, so we brought wood... No fire pit... there is over 100 steps (wooden stairway)to the water/boat house, that is quite a trek up and down for anyone hoping to have easy access (not exactly what we were expecting). We spent the majority of our time at the boat house near the water which was pretty cool... But the boat house was quite dirty, and not in any condition to sleep in... (not well maintained) Just several things that were not really disclosed anywhere and came to a surprise to us I guess.We made the best of our visit. The lake was very pleasant, we caught fish, skied, floated, tubed, kayaked and had a good time. Just be sure you inquire about any questions you have, DON'T ASSUME ANYTHING.

Underwhelming

We just got back from our summer vacation at the Woodward cabin. There was 8 of us and plenty of more room. The boat house and water was where we spent most of our time. We. Did everything from floating, boating, golfing, fishing, tubing, sking and more. There were two towns near and not more than 15 mins away. Overall the trip was amazing and we'd go back.I'd recommend this trip to anyone. Btw Jim and his wife were very helpful and have kept up the house very nicely

Friends getaway

My family and I have stayed in this cabin twice this summer so far. Both times we had a blast. The first trip out in Mid June we went to the symphony in the Flint Hills and it was awesome. Then we hung out on the lake the next day. The second trip was on the weekend of the 4th of July. The kids jumped off the boat house and floated and we took the boat around the lake many times once was for the boat parade. The house is very roomy. The kids could have their privacy in the basement and the grown ups could hang out either upstairs or on the boat house deck. It is so beautiful and peaceful there! We loved our stay! Thank you Jim!

A great lake get away

We were looking for a place for 6 adults and 3 kids and a place to relax on a lake. We stumbled across this place and lake. We are very happy we did. The cabin was ideal. Every couple had their own place, the girls had their own room, and the one boy had his place. The kitchen was set up nice so everyone could help out or visit in the living room. The deck out back was used for all 3 meals every day. It was so nice out there. The house out on the water was our main hang out. We fished, jumped off, swam, relaxed there all day every day. We'd tie our boat off out right beside it. The lake was perfect for tubing and trolling around. We took many little cruises. We had a ball and are already planning our next trip up there!! Jim was very easy to reach and answered my many questions.

Vacation with the Inlaws

This cabin is half way between my sister and her new baby and the rest of my family. We all met up here to spend some time together. The owner was very helpful and refunded our deposit very quickly. There are a few things that could be repaired like some of the steps going down to the boat house and some of the beds were not the most comfortable, but all together we were all very satisfied. For the price it really can't be beat. I'm sure my family will all meet up here again in the future.

Family time

Stayed for 3 days and had a wonderful weekend. Plenty of room for a family and the lake, even though the water was high, was a blast. Great fishing and great place to relax with family. We will most definately be back!

Wonderful place!

Long-time friends who now live all over the country needed a quiet and relaxing weekend centrally located, and this served our purposes very well. The place was quiet and even though there are nearby houses, the trees surrounding the property provide a great secluded feel. We enjoyed playing pool and relaxing on the porch/deck. The boat-house is an awesome place to relax and even though it was slightly cool we couldn't resist swimming in the lake. Overall we had a great stay and Mr. Woodward was very helpful with anything we needed help with.

Great stay - just what we needed

The cabin was just what we needed, nice and roomy. The boathouse was fun to relax and a beautiful setting to unplug and enjoy our time together. we will be back!
