Guesthouse Número Uno Beach House (San Juan, Puerto Rico)

The hotel is in a fantastic location for exploring some of the great sites of San Juan. It's easy to get around and pick up necessities, as well as sports gear to then use for the trails and water. The scenery on the way and immediately around the guest house is picture perfect, and something that enhances the benefits of staying here.

The rooms are delightful, clearly well taken of and refreshed between guest use. They're charming and cozy, and several have terrific ocean views. Pillows are soft, mattresses are just right for a satisfying sleep, and the overall ambience lives up to expectations.

The staff at Numero Uno Guest House know how to balance your privacy with making sure that you have everything you need. They'll check with you about any requests or questions, but aren't pushy or overbearing. Essentially, you can enjoy your time here at your own pace.

Maintenance needs to be better when it comes to the pool, as it doesn't seem as well kept as the rooms. It's also smaller than expected, and often becomes quite crowded and less appealing because of its size and less than vibrant appearance.

If you're looking forward to a breakfast that's not your typical free hotel meal, you may be disappointed. The food is bland and the portions and selections are paltry.

The restaurant is also less than stellar, as the menu selections don't seem particularly special as something offered during a vacation stay. Additionally, prices are too high, which doesn't create a worthy perk for guests.
