Positive Reviews
positive:
I see no ships'.
Well, there are certainly no shipwrecks here. There are pleasantly presented rooms, plus excellent heating and all the essentials you really need. The welcome is genuinely warm and friendly … so no problems. All aboard for a great stay!
positive:
Good value food.
They make great play of their budget priced food. That's understandable … and the locals wouldn't flock in on a regular basis if it wasn't good quality and value. They do! Of course everything is freshly cooked, but it's the atmosphere that adds hugely to the overall enjoyment. There are plenty of food outlets in Newark itself; Zizzi's Pizzas being just one. The Mussel and Crab, a bit further up the A1, is a short car ride away.
positive:
A great location.
It's a few miles east of the A1, so a good stopping off point for may. The surrounding area is a paradise for nature lovers and when staying at The Lord Nelson, a visit to Besthorpe Nature Reserve is a must'. Lying on the flood plain of the River Trent, it consists of lovingly restored gravel pits. The work is ongoing.

negative:
Some like it hotter.
It's all a matter of personal choice but, for some, the food on offer might be seen as being bland. Not to everyone's taste.
negative:
The noise factors in
There is a noise factor, mainly from the road outside. The secondary glazing helps for most, but not for light sleepers.
negative:
A little night torture.
For the taller members of the human race, the metal framing on the bed is a recipe for discomfort. Catch your foot in that and you'll live to regret it. For the average size person, there appears to be no problem at all.
