Ariki Backpackers

Ariki Backpackers features a large deck offering ocean views and barbecue facilities, a shared lounge with a large 50-inch flat-screen TV and a communal kitchen. The Wind Wand, a 48-metre red-fibreglass kinetic sculpture, is a four-minute walk away. There are a wide range of accommodations on offer, including a female-only dorm room, mixed dorms, and private rooms. Each unit has an attached private bathroom to cater to its occupants and some quarters include couches, TVs, and complimentary tea/coffee. Ariki Backpackers features a DVD library, book exchange, and laundry facilities. Guests will be pleased to note that they can hire bicycles, boogie boards, and surfboards, as well as make any sightseeing arrangements they might have, at the reception. There are plenty of eateries just steps from the property, including The Landing Café, Icons Sports Bar and Café, and Café Green Door. The hostel is within a five-minute walk of Puke Ariki, New Plymouth i-SITE Visitor Information Centre, and Govett-Brewster Art Gallery/Len Lye Centre.
