The five star Ritz-Carlton Arts hotel is one of the tallest buildings in Barcelona at 44 storeys. It was built in 1992 as part of the Olympic Port area development and has views over the Mediterranean Sea and over the city. The city's attractions are close by. As its name suggests, it has a range of contemporary paintings and sculpture on display in the public rooms. There are 482 guestrooms including 60 suites and 26 duplex apartments. All feature air conditioning, soundproofing, blackout drapes and a separate sitting area. They have modern facilities including control panels to operate heating, lighting, curtains and music. The décor has a light emphasis with large windows and light wood furnishings. The hotel prides itself on its round-the-clock personal service. A highlight is the Six Senses spa on the 43rd floor with sauna, hydrotherapy, steam room, fitness suite and treatment rooms. There is a fully equipped business centre and large-scale conferences and events can be catered for, with the Gran Salo Gaudi providing the largest ballroom space in the city.
