Academica offers budget accommodations in the heart of Helsinki. After being used as a student dormitory for majority of the year, the building transforms into a hostel during the summer. All rooms feature ensuite bathrooms and are simply furnished with a small kitchenette and a desk. Towels and linens are provided for all guests. Free wired internet is available in all rooms, and hair dryers are available upon request. Guests can also use the shared kitchen, or borrow the cookware for use in their rooms. For added convenience, there is a 24-hour front desk, where guests can rent a safe deposit box or purchase small items. For added convenience, the hostel also offers some parking, a computer station, and a self-serve laundromat for guest use. The onsite restaurant, Metropol, serves a breakfast buffet for a small fee. Academica is located a short walk from the National Museum Finlandia Hall, Ateneum Art Museum, Helskinki Cathedral, and Hietaniemi Beach.
