The Boulders is an upscale resort set on 1300 acres of the Sonoran Desert foothills. It has two golf courses, and is surrounded by beautiful landscaped gardens. The resort has luxurious rooms, suites, villas, studios and houses with elegant southwestern accents. All of them are equipped with flat-screen TVs, fireplaces, en suite bathrooms with natural stone showers. Some have patios/balconies, kitchens and washers. The Boulders Resort has a sprawling spa with many treatment rooms. Other amenities include four pools, tennis courts and a fitness center. Free valet parking and bike rentals are also available. The resort offers many sophisticated, fine-dining options serving multiple cuisines. There is also a bar and a lounge, as well as two cafes. Many shopping centers are at a walking distance from the resort, while Town Of Carefree and Cave Creek are a short drive away.

The resort has a stupendous spa spread over 33000 sq. ft. with many treatment rooms. It covers all kinds of therapies, facials and massages. There's also a steam room. Guests said that their spa experience rejuvenated their mind, body and soul.
Apart from all the golf and tennis, the resort offers an array of outdoor activities. Hiking and biking trails in the Sonoran Desert are arranged for guests. Horseback riding, hot air balloon flight and many other adventure sports are available on-site. Thus, guests can enjoy all the activities under one roof.
There are many dining options available in the resort. Guests specifically seemed to love the restaurant ‘Spotted Donkey' for its taste, service and food quality. There's also an organic garden on-site from where fresh local produce is fetched, making the food healthier. Even the ambience at the bar and lounge was extremely sophisticated.
There are daily resort fees charged by the property during the stay. Some guests also mentioned that separate fees are levied for car parking. As a result of this, the overall stay at the resort becomes very expensive.
The resort is almost a 50-minute drive from the Phoenix International Airport. It is thus inconvenient for guests traveling from far away destinations who prefer accommodations near the airport.
Few guests mentioned that the resort has lost its original charm. They complained of dirty towels or even simply lack of it at times. Carpets were shabby and walls had stains.
