You can’t beat this location in the heart of London. There are dozens of restuarnts, bars, museums and popular attractions within walking distance and the fashionable shops of Regent Street are just a stone’s throw away. In addition, you are just a few-minutes’ walk away from Russell Square tube station where you can gain access to the rest of the city in no time at all.
Portland is a non-smoking property which is great for those who don’t imbibe and like their room smelling fresh rather than second hand smoke.
From the moment you check in, the dedicated, friendly, multilingual staff is there to help you with most any request. The concierge can point you in the direction of entertainments, eateries and popular tourist destinations as well as the fabulous nightlife that London has to offer.
Because the guest rooms at Portland have no air conditioning, things can get uncomfortably hot in the summer months. There is really no way to cool things down either, as opening the windows lets in more noise than fresh air.
There’s a charge for Wi-Fi in the guest rooms which is unfortunate for those who want to stay connected via their phone and other devices. To add insult to injury, the fee for Internet service is rather high. Luckily, there’s free Wi-Fi available in the public spaces.
This hotel has no on-site parking or car park of any kind which means you must rely on the public car parks in the area. Unfortunately, these are very pricey, which makes having a car in the city a large, added expense.
