Set in an historic building, Copper Whale Inn offers easy access to the picturesque 11-mile Elderberry Park coastal trail, which is located within a four-minute walk of the hotel.
All of the 15 rooms are well appointed with amenities like free Wi-Fi, cable TV and hairdryer. Most of the rooms offer great views of the Cook Inlet. Suites are also available with living room, sleeper sofa and a full kitchen equipped with microwave and refrigerator.
The hotel has a spacious common area with fireplace which serves as a cosy place for guests to relax and socialize. There is also a garden area with patio seating. Other facilities include bike-rental service and parking space.
Breakfast with tea/coffee is served in the common area. There are plenty of restaurants within a couple of minutes' walk, like Simon & Seafort’s and Snow City Café.
Anchorage Museum is less than a mile from Copper Whale Inn, with shopping at Anchorage 5th Avenue Mall located a similar distance away.

Some rooms noisier than others.
One part of the guest house overlooks a rather busy road and guests who stayed in that part of the building said they were often disturbed by traffic noise which they described as quite intrusive.
Rooms can feel rather hot.
Those who stayed at the inn during warmer weather objected to the lack of air-conditioning units as they found the fans inadequate when it came to cooling down their rooms.
Niggles detract from enjoyable stay.
Guests objected to the lack of black-out curtains which resulted in too much light entering the rooms especially during the summer months. Others were inconvenienced by having to climb too many stairs to get to their rooms.
