The hotel offers free food and drink including popcorn and soda in the afternoon and evening and the 5:30 Kickback where you can enjoy three free alcoholic or soft drinks and a changing menu including salads, hotdogs, nachos, pasta and other delights. The breakfast is also complimentary where there is a range of different hot and cold offerings for a hearty start to your day.
Some rooms have a spectacular view of the San Antonio River and you can walk out of the back door of the hotel straight onto the river and have a leisurely stroll along the riverbank or even take a boat tour. There are lots of different bars and restaurants along the river and a beautiful location to enjoy a bite to eat or a drink.
From check in until check out staff are always friendly and welcoming with nothing too much trouble for them including a 'goody bag' on arrival which included ear plugs just in case there was any noise due to the hotel currently undergoing a remodelling although many guests said that these weren't even needed.
The décor in rooms and throughout the hotel is starting to look tired and dated with carpets worn and furniture old, but the hotel is currently undergoing a major refurbishment so there should be improvements seen.
There aren't enough tables and chairs in the breakfast room meaning that when this area gets busy you won't have anywhere to sit, although there are some in reception and you can always take food to your room, but this might be cold by the time you get there.
The balconies are small with flimsy plastic furniture and the view also takes in the rooftops of other buildings so isn't as spectacular as some have reported.
