Hotel Elan (Calgary, Canada)

The hotel is tucked away in a safe residential area with guests stating that they did not have to worry about walking back to their accommodation in the evenings. As only breakfasts are served on-site guests found it very handy being a short stroll away from the popular 17th Avenue where they were able to sample the local cafes, bars and restaurants.

Guests were pleased to find that their rooms were very well equipped with up-to-date amenities such as rainfall showers, heated bathroom floors and quality coffee makers. Many appreciated having microwaves in their rooms as well as added extras such as branded toiletries.

Many were very complimentary with regards to the continental buffet which was said to include an extensive range of quality fresh items such as cheeses, yoghurts and pastries as well as some hot options such as boiled and scrambled eggs. The generous supplies of freshly brewed coffee and fruit juices were also greatly appreciated.

There is no restaurant on the premises which inconvenienced some guests who objected to having to leave the hotel in search of somewhere to eat. Others also mentioned that they would have enjoyed their stay more if there was a guest lounge and a bar on-site.

One side of the building looks over the rather busy 17th Avenue and guests whose rooms overlooked the road said that they were able to hear traffic noise which they described as quite intrusive.

The light switches were described as being quite complicated to operate as guests reported having to struggle in order to work out how to use them. Others also mentioned that the room temperature controls were not very user-friendly.
