Some of the rooms come with really great ocean views and a lovely beach. The beach is an easy walk and is just across the street. While the hotel does have beach access, it is in a quiet location and away from the busy, party area of Padre Island.
Hotels with this level of beach access and ocean views are usually quite expensive, but this hotel provides a great value. With the rate comes free WiFi and a free breakfast with many hot and cold choices. There is also access to a pool at a neighboring chain hotel.
The rooms are modern and comfortable. Many rooms have additional quality features, such as the use of a kitchenette with microwaves and refrigerators. The TVs also have DVDs with them, providing more modern creature comforts than a budget hotel usually offers.
Although the room is comfortable, you'll still be able to feel the budget aspects of the stay. The linens, bedding, and beds are not luxury, but feel like low quality. The breakfast buffet is a standard chain offering, rather than a freshly-prepared selection.
While most rooms offer a clean presentation, there are some minor details that often escape housekeeping notice, such as dust and full trash bin. The carpets are stained and seem to give off a moldy and unpleasant odor. The outside appearance is much nicer than the inside rooms, so don't judge the whole place by the pleasant exterior. There are also problems with bugs, such as roaches.
The water pressure for the showers is quite disappointing. If you like waking up to a brisk and strong spray, you won't enjoy the wilty and limpy showers in these units.
