The Garden Room Restaurant serves Californian cuisine for breakfast lunch and dinner, while the Old English Tap Room is styled like an English pub. Guests can also enjoy a cocktail at The Wine Cellar and Martini Bar or a hot drink in the cafe.
Historic Santa Maria Inn is 13 miles inland from the coast and a 30 minute drive to Riverbench Vineyard and Winery. Simas Park and the Natural History Museum are within half a mile of the property.
The staff at this hotel are very friendly and helpful. They will greet you warmly and make you feel like a valued guest throughout your entire stay. If you have a query or a problem, or just want some handy local knowledge, you only have to ask.
A lovely setting
The property has a beautiful garden and a really nice swimming pool. The courtyard area outside is very pretty, with a fountain, and everywhere is well landscaped. It is an enjoyable and relaxing place to spend some time. Also, the bar has good music in the evening.
A sense of the past
As its name would suggest, Historic Santa Maria Inn is a good place to stay if you have an interest in history. The antiques and pictures from yesteryear are really interesting.
An update would be good
Although Historic Santa Maria Inn does retain a feeling of the past very well, a few aspects of the hotel could still use a revamp. Some of the paint is chipped pain and the carpets are worn. Certain items of furniture are past their best as well. The floors are quite uneven too, so watch your step. They are creaky as well.
Not the best start to the day
The breakfast isn't amazing for the price you pay. You might leave for the day feeling a little unsatisfied. Similarly, meals in the evening are fairly pricey. Although these are generally of a high standard, they are still rather expensive.
While some guestrooms are spacious, others are much smaller, meaning there isn't much room to spread out.
