Positive Reviews
positive:
Good food and a friendly welcome.
Besides the stunning scenery, many visitors come to the Lake District in search of good food and hospitality. According to most reviewers, neither is in short supply at the Inn on the Square. Comments praised the attentive staff and tasty food on offer from cooked breakfasts and lunches to afternoon teas and fresh steaks.
positive:
Bring your four-legged friend.
Dog lovers have welcomed the hotel’s dog friendly policy, which allows up to two pets to stay with their owners in their bedrooms for a surcharge. Dogs can accompany owners in the bars and lounge, but your pooch won’t be able to enter the steakhouse no matter how much it may want to.
positive:
Stylish, clean, comfortable and modern.
Having undergone a full refurbishment in summer 2015, the hotel has won praise from visitors for its stylish and modern decor and variety of bedroom designs with modern fixtures and fittings. Most reported the hotel to be cleaned to a high standard and said they had a comfortable stay.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Town centre noise can disturb light sleepers.
While the town centre location is handy for reaching shops and eateries, it can mean late night noise is not uncommon, especially at the weekends. Bedrooms have triple-glazed windows to alleviate noise but some reviewers still suggested avoiding bedrooms overlooking the square if you are a light sleeper.
negative:
Feeling hot hot hot.
Air-conditioning is not available in the bedrooms, which prompted a few comments from reviewers about feeling too warm at night during the warmer months. However, hotel staff can organise for a fan to be brought to your room.
negative:
No parking on-site.
There is no parking at the hotel, but motorists can take advantage of a voucher scheme enabling them to use public parking at locations nearby. For some reviewers this caused a headache in terms of bringing luggage from the car to the hotel.
