The Intercontinental IC Amsterdam opened in 1867 and stands between the Amsterdam business area and cultural attractions such as the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum, Spiegelkwartier and the Royal Carré Theatre. This five star hotel has 79 guestrooms and 24 suites spread over 4 floors. These all have modern 5 star features such as flat screen satellite and cable TV with a sound system, DVD and CD player, a full refrigerator, a mini bar and microwave oven. There is 24 hour room service, a valet service and a free daily newspaper. Amenities within the hotel include a health club with a 15m swimming pool, a sauna, Turkish baths, massages and a health bar. The fully equipped fitness room is open 24 hours a day and the hotel spa has a sauna and a whirlpool. Business services include copying and printing, a PC, wireless Internet connection, fax, e-mail and a technical concierge service. A news stand, a beauty salon and a gift shop are on the ground floor. La Rive serves fine French cuisine morning, noon and evening and the Amstel Bar & Brasserie serves lunch and dinner with a view onto the canal through the picture windows
