Review summary

This AI-generated summary was based on reviews from multiple
sites

The hotel is an adults-only retreat, making it an ideal choice for couples and solo travelers seeking a tranquil and intimate escape. Its signature feature is the stunning natural beauty of the island, offering a true paradise experience with crystal-clear waters and lush surroundings. Guests consistently praise the serene atmosphere, the opportunity to truly unwind, and the exceptional warmth of the staff. For those looking to disconnect and recharge, this resort provides a perfect setting. To maximize your relaxation, consider bringing your own preferred snacks and beverages, as island provisions can be limited and costly. Also, be aware that while Wi-Fi is available in common areas, in-room connectivity may be limited, encouraging a digital detox.

Facilities & Amenities
The hotel offers a beautiful swimming pool area, described as well-maintained with ample seating and loungers, providing stunning views. Guests appreciate the availability of complimentary snorkeling gear and kayaks, allowing for easy exploration of the surrounding marine life directly from the beach. A dive shop is also on-site, offering various excursions and courses. The spa is a highlight, particularly the open-air treatment rooms with ocean views, and guests often enjoy the complimentary foot massage. While some older reviews mention issues with the tennis court and gym being outdated or unusable, more recent feedback suggests the tennis court is in good shape. Free Wi-Fi is available in common areas like the reception and restaurant, though in-room Wi-Fi may incur an additional charge or be unreliable. Some guests noted a lack of readily available beach towels at times.

Cleanliness & Room Comfort
Guests generally find the rooms to be clean and comfortable, with many praising the spaciousness and authentic Bure style accommodation. Many rooms feature a semi-private covered patio, a plunge pool, and direct beach access, enhancing the private and luxurious feel. The beds are consistently described as comfortable, ensuring a restful sleep. While some older reviews mention rooms showing age or minor issues like a bathroom door being held open with a rock, more recent feedback highlights well-appointed and beautifully decorated Bures. Some guests in specific villas noted issues with noisy pool pumps running all night and a lack of soundproofing. There were also mentions of ants in rooms, particularly in shower areas, and occasional issues with housekeeping not refreshing linens or toiletries daily, or providing enough towels.

Dining & Food Quality
The hotel features a single restaurant where guests can enjoy meals. Most guests describe the breakfast as good, with options like fresh fruit, pastries, and cooked-to-order dishes, though some found the variety limited for longer stays. The dinner menu changes daily, offering a selection of fish, pork, chicken, and beef, with many praising the quality and presentation of the fish dishes. However, feedback on overall food quality is mixed; while some found it delicious and excellent, a significant number of guests described it as average, lukewarm, or disappointing, citing issues like blandness, small portions, and a lack of fresh salads or vegetables. Some experienced issues with raw chicken or food poisoning. Desserts received specific negative comments from some. Service in the restaurant can be slow, often attributed to "Fiji time," and some guests noted a lack of attentiveness from staff.

Location & Accessibility
The hotel boasts a paradise location on a small, private island, making it feel secluded and intimate. It is easily accessible by boat, typically an hour to an hour and a half ride from the mainland. The island offers direct beach access from many accommodations, with some Bures having private steps to the sand. The snorkeling directly off the beach is a major highlight, with guests praising the pristine coral and abundant marine life. The island's small size allows for easy exploration, including walking or kayaking around it. Guests appreciate the beautiful views from various points, including a hike to the highest point. While the main beaches are stunning, some villas are located near rocky areas, requiring a short walk to sandy swimming spots.

Staff & Service
The staff consistently receive overwhelming praise for their warmth, friendliness, and attentiveness. Many guests highlight their genuine smiles, helpfulness, and efforts to learn guest names, creating a personalized and welcoming atmosphere. The welcome and farewell songs performed by the staff are frequently mentioned as memorable and touching experiences. While most interactions are positive, some guests noted occasional instances of unmotivated or inattentive staff, particularly in the restaurant, leading to slow service. The check-in process is generally smooth, with staff assisting with luggage. The spa ladies are commended for their professionalism and the quality of massages. Overall, the staff are considered the heart and soul of the resort, significantly enhancing the guest experience.

Additional Information
Guests should be aware that the island relies on desalination for water, which some found to have a flat taste. The resort operates on "Fiji time," meaning service can be relaxed and leisurely, which is part of the island's charm but may require patience. During certain months (roughly November to May), nocturnal storm petrels nest on the island, and their calls can be quite loud at night, potentially disturbing light sleepers, especially in beachfront villas. The resort offers complimentary use of snorkeling gear and kayaks for the duration of a stay. While the resort aims for an eco-friendly approach, some guests suggested improvements like refillable toiletries and avoiding plastic straws. Some guests noted that catamarans advertised were out of service.
