Those who wish to explore further can easily catch the U-Bahn at the nearby Schwedenplatz or Stephansplatz stations. There are also many restaurants, cafes, and boutique shopping districts with an easy stroll.
Most guests find the rooms to be sparkling clean, with comfortable, modern furnishings. The beds are generally described as very comfortable, and guests in the Privilege Rooms appreciate their extra touches, such as the complimentary minibar, Nespresso machine, and walk-in rain shower. Young ones, and the young at heart, love the rubber duckie.
Most guests give the front desk staff rave reviews for their personable and professional customer service, noting that they provide guests with free maps at check-in, and are happy to also share their knowledge of the city's many attractions.
Several guests describe the standard rooms as "tiny", though most are prepared to accept the close quarters given the hotel's premium location in the city centre. Others were disappointed in the speed of the complimentary Wi-Fi, or the lack of English channels on the tv.
The Mercure Wien Zentrum does not have on site parking, so drivers must choose between paying extra for valet parking and self parking in a public lot about two streets away.
Several guests reported issues with the air conditioning, and noted that leaving their windows open was not an option given that the many bars in the neighbourhood are open, and lively, until 2 or 4 am.
