In the Sariyer district of Istanbul visitors will find this private museum which is housed in a wooden mansion that was owned by the Koc family who used it as their summer residence. The Koc family are one of Turkey's richest families and gave the mansion and new buildings to make the museum. Their museum has two sections - one on archaeology and the other on art history. The collection contains rare objects collected over the years, costumes and artifacts reflecting the lifestyles of past centuries, valuable fabrics, and gold, silver and porcelain wares. The collection includes rare items from the Neolithic age and Hatti, Hittite, Urartu, Greek, Roman, Byzantine and Seljuk periods. The museum is open every day except Wednesday and hours are 09:00 to 17:00 between October and March and from 10:30 to 18:00 between April and October.
