Hotel Moulin de Vigonac (Brantome, France)

The four star Moulin de Vigonac on the outskirts of Brantôme is, as the name suggests, a former mill dating from the 16th century. Work on converting the mill itself and the 19th century outbuildings was begun in 1997 and the complex now provides ten rooms. The accommodation is spread between the various buildings, some at ground floor level, some at an upper level, and most have direct access from the courtyard. Each is individually decorated and all provide en-suite facilities, satellite TV, minibar, free wifi and a small sitting area. Some have private terraces. The restaurant is located in the mill building, with the mill wheel on one side and the river flowing past on the other. It looks out over the grounds through which the river flows forming small islands. An outside terrace is available for alfresco dining in summer weather. An open-air swimming pool is at guests’ disposal and equipped with loungers and sun umbrellas. As at 2010, facilities are being refurbished to host small events and seminars.
