Positive Reviews
positive:
Make a Messe of it...
The hotel is very popular with guests in town for one of Frankfurt's famous trade fairs, as the Messe is within a comfortable walking distance, under ten minutes for most. The S-Bahn is right there also, and will get sightseers to the city centre in about 15 minutes. There is also a tram stop just a few steps out the hotel entrance, and guests note there are always taxis waiting there, too. The Seckennberg Natural History Museum is within walking distance.
positive:
No surprises in the rooms...
Guests generally describe the rooms as "very typical" for a Novotel in a business district; clean, comfortable, and spacious. While there are no big surprises or memorable luxuries, there are also relatively few disappointments in terms of basic amenities like bathrooms, beds, wi-fi, or air conditioning.
positive:
Good value for money...
Though prices do tend to rise during a trade show or other event, as is the case with hotels everywhere, guests often comment that the hotel offers good value for money, especially for families on a weekend or those who get a deal with breakfast included.
Negative Reviews
negative:
On the wrong side of the tracks..
Guests in rooms facing the railway tracks have reported a bothersome level of noise from the passing trains.
negative:
The nose knows...
The Novotel Frankfurt City permits smoking in some guest rooms, a big turn-off for non-smokers. A few guests have also reported an unpleasant smell in the corridors or wafting up from the bathroom drains.
negative:
You win some, you lose some...
Though many guests describe the staff as friendly and helpful, others have been disappointed by indifferent customer service at the front desk or in the restaurant. Several guests have been particularly let down by the lack of recognition for their participation in the chain's loyalty program.
