Guests enthusiastically ate the complimentary weekday buffet breakfast. This full American buffet included eggs, bacon, potatoes, hot and cold cereal, fruit, juices, and coffee/tea. It was a great way to start the day, according to guests. Even better was Il Fornaio Restaurant, for a taste of Italy with authentic pastas and sauces cooked in an open kitchen.
positive:
Oozing with charm.
The rooms and common areas at the Pine Inn had character to spare, and guests were pleased to step back in time at a historical Carmel property. Victorian antiques, plush velvet, and half canopy beds were a few of the details that guests loved.
positive:
Brand new bathrooms.
Sparkling, newly renovated bathrooms didn't go unnoticed at the Pine Inn. Certain deluxe rooms and suites also have a large jacuzzi tub that was a hit with visitors to this hotel.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Choose your location wisely.
Guests staying in rooms next to the hotel restaurant weren't happy campers. Noise from the lively kitchen carried over into rooms, and food smells kept some guests up at night. Rooms on the top floor could also be a bad idea because the hotel is without an elevator.
negative:
Some rooms a bit too small.
If you are known to be an over-packer, you may want to consider staying in a larger deluxe room or suite. Guests found standard rooms to be a bit short on space, and while fine for a night or two, several said they felt too cramped to stay longer.
negative:
Too hot to handle.
Guests broke a sweat during summer heat waves at this hotel. With no air-conditioning, guests were left to their own devices for cooling down. If you don't want to feel the heat, ask for a room with windows that open.
