About Hotel Playafels
Set in an unbeatable position right on Casteldefels Beach, Hotel Playafels Hotel is a small property offering personalised attention and its own gorgeous grounds.
The 34 rooms have that modern airy feel typical of seaside properties, and feature en-suite bathrooms with bath products, air conditioning, minibars, in-rooms safe, work desks and telephones.
Reception is open 24 hours and can assist with tours, transfers, bike rental, basic business services and laundry. The main focus at Hotel Playafels is undoubtedly on its gorgeous and extensive pool terrace, set in a lovely garden overlooking the Mediterranean. There is ample on-site parking, and free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property.
L’Horizonte Restaurant does indeed have ocean views all the way to the horizon, and serves a buffet breakfast and Mediterranean dishes for the other two meals.
The main attraction is the beach right out front. Barcelona Airport is 8.6 miles from the hotel, while the city itself is about 16 miles away.
Positive Reviews
positive:
Unbeatable position right on the beach
The location of the hotel, right on Casteldefels sandy beach, was far and away what guests most liked about Playafels. They were, after all, on a beach break, so having the beach just a few steps away was exactly what they were looking for.
positive:
Lots of dining options nearby
Guests were happy to discover that they were not stuck with the hotel's restaurant. No matter how good, they still wanted some variety, and were glad to report that there were a large number of cafes, restaurants and tapas bars in the immediate area.
positive:
Relatively easy to get to Barcelona
Though most guests seemed to spend their time on the beach, and in surrounding Casteldefels, some did go into Barcelona every now and then. The route via public transport was described as fairly easy, with a 10-minute walk to the train station, and then a 30-minute train ride.
Negative Reviews
negative:
No tea or coffee making facilities
While this may come down to cultural differences, since not all countries have the practice of including these in hotel rooms, this was cold comfort to guests who would have liked the ability to make themselves a quick cuppa with no fuss, but found there were no in-room facilities.
negative:
Bar and restaurant seem seasonal
Guests travelling in the off-season speak about both the bar and restaurant being closed. It is unclear if this is always the case, but those travelling in the cooler months may need to seek these out in the surrounding area.
negative:
Rooms not well soundproofed
There were a few reports from guests that indicate that the soundproofing between rooms leaves much to be desired. They complained about being able to hear (real) voices from the adjoining rooms, and thought the hotel should have done more to make the rooms soundproof.
