Set in a charming historic building on the edge of Krakow’s Old Town, the Hotel Polonia Hotel offers classical elegance in an ideal location for sightseeing.
Rooms are furnished in the classical style, and all feature private bathrooms, flat screen TV’s, telephones and radios, while some have air conditioning as well.
Reception is open 24 hours and can assist with transfers, tours and luggage storage. Pets are allowed on application, and free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property.
The Hotel Polonia Restaurant is open from 7:00 AM, and prides itself on more than 100 years of serving diners in Krakow. They serve Polish cuisine, influenced by several other European nations.
The Hotel Polonia Hotel is very convenient for Krakow’s railway station, which is just steps’ away. The sights of the Old Town are also within walking distance, while the Wawel Royal Castle is just 1.4 miles away.
By far the thing that most delighted guests was the central location. The hotel is just on the edge of the Old Town, and all its sights are within easy walking distance, though the castle may be a bit of a trek for some. Guests also mention the proximity to the station, which was very convenient on arrival.
Lovely historic building
Considering most guests are in Krakow to see the sights in its Old Town, they are delighted to be staying in a building which itself has historic appeal. It is described as being full of character, and this fact has guests even willing to overlook a little problem here and there.
Good Polish atmosphere
While this was perhaps a bit of a strange one, a couple of guests complimented the hotel for maintaining a strong Polish atmosphere in the hotel. It seems what they meant by this is that they were glad nobody had decided to turn it into a generic “International” hotel.
In need of an update and renovation
While there is some indication this is taking place, several guests mention that the rooms are in desperate need of an update. They typically like both the decor and the furniture itself, but feel the pieces are old and need to be replaced or repaired to be truly comfortable.
Some rooms very noisy
A fairly common complaint from guests who had rooms facing the road is that the trams that pass by make quite a racket at all hours. Guests looking for a bit more quiet should request a courtyard facing room.
Limited facilities on-site
A couple of guests pointed out that the hotel doesn't really have any public areas to speak of. There is no lounge or bar, for example.
