Situated near Prater Park, with its iconic giant ferris wheel, the Praterstern Hotel offers good value budget accommodation in a very convenient central location.
The rooms are modern with bright, cheerful décor and feature hypoallergenic bedding, satellite TV and telephone. In-room Wi-Fi is available for a fee.
Reception is open 24 hours and can assist with luggage storage and bike rental. There is also paid parking on-site.
A simple continental breakfast is served every morning. For other meals, reception will be happy to offer personal dining recommendations. The bar is open 24 hours, and serves snacks throughout the day, and free tea from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
The Viennese Giant Ferris Wheel is barely 600 yards from the Praterstern and is a not to be missed attraction. The lovely Schönbrunn Palace is five miles away, and can be reached by public transport.
Most guests really liked the location of the Praterstern, describing it as very central, but more importantly as being close to Praterstern station, from where they could catch a tram or train to anywhere in Vienna. Cash is (the only) king
positive:
In a lovely quiet side street
Several guests mentioned that, despite the central location, they didn't really experience a lot of noise from outside since the hotel is on a relatively quiet side street.
positive:
On-site bike rental
Though not mentioned by many guests, the ones who did were certainly very enthusiastic about it. They seemed to be keen cyclists and were pleased that they could rent a bike right downstairs with a minimum of fuss.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Cash is (the only) king
Several guests point out that the hotel only accepts cash on the premises. Many found this quite peculiar, especially when settling a bill for a longer stay, which would require quite large amounts of cash to be carried around - something many were reluctant to do.

Why pay for Wi-Fi
This was the question many guest were asking themselves and hotel staff. Considering the central part connectivity pays in peoples lives nowadays, many guest simply don't accept that Wi-Fi could attract an additional fee and believed it should have been included in the room rate. In their mind it was like being asked to pay to have a bed in their room, rather the sleeping on the floor.
negative:
Breakfast meagre and expensive
It seems most guests did not believe they received good value if paying the extra charge for breakfast. It may be better to simply take breakfast at a local café.
