A great location.

It's easy to find and it's equally easy to get to some of the region's top attractions from here.

Spacious rooms.

Most rooms are 'roomy' with plenty of space. They're well cleaned and maintained and if some elements are a bit dated, overall it's a really good deal, financially..

Surprisingly impressive breakfast.

Breakfast is fine. There's a good choice and stocks are replenished regularly. There are many hotel breakfasts that are far worse than this!

When 'dated' becomes 'dirty'!

It costs a fortune to update facilities at a hotel and ultimately the cost is piled on to the tariff charged. Consequently, just turn a blind eye to these failings and enjoy the cost effective benefits. Cleaning, though, is part of the day to day routine and there is no excuse for dirty carpets, mirrors, air filters etc. 'They' say that the West Wing is something of a Shangri-La compared with the rest of the hotel. If so, it's strange that they operate using these hugely differing standards of cleanliness.

Not piling on the pressure.

That old problem .. of inadequate water pressure, leading to showers that are intermittent and either too hot or too cold ... is alive and thriving here.

Antiquated TVs.

There's no listing of TV stations so you have go through the laborious, time consuming exercise of visiting the channels manually to see what's on. There are better ways to spend a holiday break.
