This hotel is steeped in history and is known as the 'Grand Dame' Seattle hotels. It's the longest operating hotel in the city and guests say it oozes character. The garden entrance, the dark wood paneling, and European feel give the hotel Old World charm. Afternoon tea is served each day and there's evening chess in the fireside lounge.

The hotel is in the central business district, just steps from the Convention Center. Guests say it's a great location within an easy walk of the best restaurants and sights in downtown Seattle. The hotel is also very close to the highway so you can avoid downtown traffic.

The hotel was built in 1909 and as in many older buildings, rooms here may be smaller than in more modern hotels. Guests say the bathrooms are particularly tiny and can feel cramped, with little counter space.

While guests love to walk around the city and the wharf, it's a bit of a hike up and down hills and can be challenging for anyone who's not in shape or has mobility issues.

While most guests say the hotel is luxurious and well-kept, it's an old building and in some areas it shows. Older rugs are showing wear and tear and guests say the air-conditioning units in some rooms are in need of replacement and don't cool things down.
