The food at Stoke Place is of a very high quality. The head chef prepares really excellent meals for lunch and for dinner which have a lot of flavour and are beautifully presented. The cooked breakfast is also good. The waiting staff are sometimes slow and disorganised but overall they try to provide quick, good service.
The hotel is surrounded by a wonderful park with a beautiful lake and a well-maintained garden. The grounds are very relaxing and peaceful and are pleasant to spend time in. The hotel terrace overlooks the natural surroundings and is a very nice place to take lunch as well.
The staff and management at the hotel are very friendly and attentive to guests. The staff try to be welcoming and helpful and are also approachable for information on what activities and sights are nearby.
Although the hotel has quite a grand exterior inside many of the rooms are quite small. The attic rooms in particular are not so spacious due to the sloped ceilings. Some of the other room options are a lot more spacious however and might be better suited for guests who want to stay longer than a single night.
The rooms are not very well soundproofed which means that sometimes you can hear the sounds of other guests and their conversations through the walls. The rooms that are near to the main road may also experience some noise disturbance from passing traffic.
The garden rooms are separated from the main building and are therefore closer to the car-park and gravel driveway which makes for some noise. The rooms are also not particularly spacious or impressive. The rooms are however surrounded by beautiful garden.
