Hotel The Reef at Atlantis (Paradise Island City, Bahamas)

This is a hotel and resort that is very much enjoyed and appreciated by family guests, and those who are active and wish to make use of the water and bathing experiences. The beach and water were much appreciated by visitors.

The rooms are of a good size, fresh and well presented and maintained by the housekeeping staff. Staying with children is comfortable with the adequate space available, and the use of the kitchen is a great convenience for families.

The pool and the beach at the Cove and the Reef were found to be beautiful, and there was no shortage of sun beds. The shuttle service is efficient in transporting guests around the resort's facilities.

There was a certain lack of enthusiasm from the staff, particularly at reception, which is not excusable bearing in mind the price level of this holiday experience. Guests should not have to put up with meanness in supply of toiletries. The restaurants were very expensive, and not prepared to be flexible in providing and charging appropriately for children's portions.

When cruise ships come into port the facilities such as the water park, already very crowded, are rather swamped by the influx of visitors. Soundproofing of the rooms is not as good as it could be. And the hotel is beginning to show its age, particularly in respect of the soft furnishings, sofas and carpets.

This is a location for an active, family orientated holiday, not a quiet restful stay. The most common observation concerns the cost of eating and drinking here which is at such a level that it even shocked visitors from Switzerland accustomed to living in the most expensive city in the world!
