THE BEACH This beach is located on the most beautiful bay of Gambia. As far as you look from left to right, there is simply nothing that is not natural. More tourist beaches are often polluted and crammed with hotels etc. Luckily you will not be bothered by so-called bumsters who want to sell you everything and just do not leave you alone. You can laze, swim, have a drink and enjoy a delicious meal all day long. Or just continue sleeping with the sound of the waves without having to worry about someone sitting on your things. And all that within a few dozen meters of your own house. THE ALLAHEIN RIVER The Allahein River is also the border between Gambia and and region in Senegal called Cassamance. The Allahein is a rare and beautiful salt water mangrove creek which is almost unspoiled. The river is tidal, so it flows in both directions depending on the tide. This means it is constantly “flushing” which forms a rich habitat for many species of birds and fish as well as otters and the occasional crocodile. Boboi has two boats and experienced captains who can show you the river and act as guides. The boats are safe and have lifejackets. THE MANGROVE AREAS Kartong is surrounded by mangrove areas. These are brackish water areas that are full or empty every 6 hours. It is a very beautiful area where you can sail with canoes or just walk on the safe paths. Because it is brackish water, there are almost no insects such as mosquitoes etc. Well you come In this area practically no malaria occurs during the season, as in the more touristy areas. You can imagine what will emerge when it is low tide. REPTILE FARM Many of our guests visit the reptile farm. It is a ten minute walk from the Boboibeach resort and you can meet all the kinds of wildlife that are becoming increasingly rare in Gambia today such as snakes, lizards, tortoises and crocodiles. KARTONG Walk to the beautifull village of Kartong, Meet the locals Kartong is the village nearby. It takes about 20 minutes to walk there and it is well worth the visit because it is not only a typical Gambia village but it is also one of the oldest villages (450Years)in the Gambia. The main ethinc groups in Kartong are; Mandinka, Jolla, Carronlinka and Balanto. The main language is Mandinka. Going out with us to the village you could even learn some basic Mandinka. Tale a walking tour with us. We can show you round and will take you to parts you would not normally find. The villagers are welcoming and friendly and since we know pretty much everyone, you will too!. SENEGAL Visit Senegal , Only 15 min away is the boarder to Senegal You can use a smal boat over the river or the officiel way over land. How ever ,it is an excitement tour to for example the small coastplace Abene where the Senegalese French kitchen can offer you real croissants and all kind of specialities. BICYCLES Go cycling on the shoreline along the long beaches and enjoy nature from the water perpective.Want to take a break? Just stop and lie down in the warm water of the atlantic. We can provide you with a picnic somewhere in a forgotten bay .... HORSE RIDING The local horses are waiting impatiently for you to ride the sunset together. FISHING Great fishing in the Allahein river or in the ocean.You can catch snappers, barracudas, cat fish, puffer fish and many others! BBQ After you will be able to BBQ together on our beach at your own campfire... BIRDS Kartong is a bird watchers dream! There are over 300 species and many of them can be found at the river. USE AN ORIGINAL DUG OUT CANOE Most locals use a dug out canoe to get about and you can go out with them as they paddle you up and down the river. Jane is calling.....The boats are safe and have lifejackets. SERRAKUNDA MARKET Serrekunda markets are typical African markets which sell almost everything you can imagine and more besides. You can make your own African (Website hidden by Airbnb) very ad-hoc and you need to be prepared to bargain to get the best deal. CRAFT MARKET Brikama craft market is a purpose built market where local craftsmen make and sell their products. If you want to buy a jembe this is the right place! Go with our guides - you will get a much better price. MONKEY PARC This monkey reservation parc is at the beach , bring some groundnuts or an apple and they will be your best friends. FISHING VILLAGE TANJI Here most fischerman have their base and bring their fresh fish. The woman are waiting to sell them to you and all restaurants around, It is an spectacular mix of different colors,cultures and just good fresh food. SURFING You can surf at our atlantic bay , this bay is known as a surfer paradise during high tide . At great tide nice big waves break on the sandbanks off the coast. These are also the only sounds that you can hear in your comfortable bed at night. UP-RIVER We can organise a short one or two day trip to Jinak Island. It is not far and we will take you up to Banjul where they will collect you by boat. It gives you a chance to experience a different part of Gambia and well worth the visit. LAMIN LODGE This famous lodge gives you the view over the wide mangrove forrest. You can eat very fresh mangrove fish and oysters. AT NIGHT In de evening you see the milky way like you never saw it before. (there is absolutly no light pollution here) We make campfires on the beach and the locals come to play their african drums to seduce you to dance to the moon and stars. YOGA We have our own Dutch yoga teacher who helps you find inner peace in the mornings. AFRICAN DANCE COURSE We organise african dance courses together with the local woman from Kartong. Its a lot of fun to feel their drums rhythm. MORE NIGHTLIFE The coastal highway connects the total coast line from Banjul till (Website hidden by Airbnb) means that you are fast in Senegambia or any outgoing area. We offer during the weekends trips there with our caravan wich is for max.15 persons. GUINNEA-BISSAU Like a microcosm of Africa, this tiny old portugese nation contains multitudes – of landscapes, peoples, cultures and plant and animal life. All of it within reach of the capital, Bissau. Faded colonial-era houses sag, from tropical decay and the weight of history.Guinee-Bissau is only 5 hours away from Kartong. Getting around We can pick you up/bring you back fro the airport, its less then one hour ride. the costs are 15 euros for max 4 persons. This Lodge is 3 min walk to main road wich brings you in between 10-50 min to al coast highlights the Gambia has to offer you. Taxis are cheap and fast , excursions are including all transport costs.
