From the level of personal attention to the hand-written cards left in rooms to greet guests, the service provided by the staff was praised by reviewers. Employees were also said to be highly knowledgeable about the Yellowstone area and willing to give advice about nearby dining and attractions.

Visitors agreed that the hotel's location just a stone's throw from the north entrance to Yellowstone National Park makes it a great launching point for exploring this historic area. Many also appreciated the view of the surrounding mountains, particularly enjoyable from the upper floors.

The recently-renovated rooms have a warm homely feel and feature tasteful wooden furnishings and rustic American decor. The room staff also received high marks for the tidiness and cleanliness of the suites.

A number of guests stated that the dining area is rather small and can get very cramped during busy hours. Several also commented that the rooms are compact as well, but this was rarely cited as a major problem.
