Kandolhu is one of the most idyllic of the Maldivian islands, and the resort has made use of the entire island to coax guest’s tropical island fantasies out into the revealing light of day. There are 30 rooms, some on the island, and some over the water. Many even have their own private pools. Each features air conditioning, king size bed, flat screen TV with satellite channels, ipod docks, wine cellars, coffee machines and yoga mats The private patios feature sun beds and seating. The Varu Spa on the island offers an extensive range of treatments in exquisite surroundings, while the more active guest will find a gym. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the island. There are an incredible five dining venues, from the elegant Market Restaurant to the intimate Banzai, serving Japanese cuisine. Kandodolhu Island is 44 miles west of Male, and can be reached in about 25 minutes by seaplane.
While guests were complimentary about almost all aspects of their stay on the island, it was the service that many singled out as the defining feature. It was one thing to have an amazing location and facilities, which they said the resort had, but to them the true test was the service. They described the staff as impeccable with the obsessive attention to detail that was the true mark of a luxury property.
Again and again guests compliment the food offered by the islands many restaurants. Some had maybe been a little apprehensive before arriving, since there are no other dining options other than those on the island. They needn't have worried, since there were pretty much no negative reviews of the food. It was said that the chefs would also try to accommodate guest's dietary preferences and requirements if possible.
Though it was mentioned that the coral closest to the island has been bleached, there were certainly many great dive sights nearby. Guests tended to take a charter, since the locals obviously knew where the best coral and other sealife was to be found. They were definitely not disappointed, saying that it was some of the best diving they had experienced anywhere.
