The view from The Terrace, Richmond Hill is the only view in England that is protected by a Parliamentary Act, which was passed in 1902 to preserve the view for future generations.It has inspired many artists over the centuries including works by Turner and Sir Joshua Reynolds. Terrace Walk was created in the early 18th century and has a Grade 2 listed status as a park, it is from here that many of the more famous paintings have been done including Turner's "The Thames from Richmond Hill" which is part of the tate collection. Access to the area is free and free parking is available within the park.
