Some parts of the building date back to the 15th century and there are plenty of original features including the exposed oak beams and open fires that left a lasting impression on the guests. The interior has been described by many as very elegant with quality antique furniture and lots of paintings adorning the walls.
Guests who used the spa including the indoor pool, steam rooms and Jacuzzi said that they thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The pool was described as clean and warmed to a pleasant temperature whilst those who had specialist treatments including massages and facials said that they were carried out by professional and experienced staff.
All the members of staff at the hotel have been described as friendly and courteous. Guests were made to feel welcome and any issues they had during their stay were handled swiftly and effectively. Those who chose the hotel as a venue for their wedding reception said that they received a very high level of service.
Guests whose rooms were located on the ground floor and close to the entrance of the hotel complained about not being able to get a good night’s sleep due to the noise made by those entering or leaving the premises.
Those whose rooms were located on the upper floors complained about having to climb the stairs which were described as quite steep and narrow. Although staff offered help with luggage it would be advisable to ask for rooms on the ground floor if you have any mobility issues.
Guests complained about having to wait for quite a while in order to receive their orders and the overall inattentiveness of those serving at the bar.
