Qiyan, the Gaia Hotel is surrounded by sedimentary formation over 24 million years old. The name "qiyan" (meaning "peculiar rock" in Chinese) derives from this unique landscape. Since their discovery in 1896, the white sulphur hot springs of Beitou have been advertised through word of mouth. The Hotel is well-known for its hot springs, whose pH 4-5 and temperatures between 40-45°C, allow guests to fully relax in their healing waters.
