For many, this hotel is the perfect base for those who wish to explore Texas Hill Country. Located close to I-10, the property puts visitors within easy reach of the shops and boutiques of Fredericksburg as well as the delights of the nearby countryside.

If you like taxidermy, then you'll be very impressed with this hotel's interior décor. Antlers, branding irons, stuffed bears and goats as well as Western and Native American-style memorabilia give this hotel a unique appeal, an ambience that many feel sets this place apart from conventional hotel chains.

Both in-room and in public areas, the consistent Wi-Fi coverage at this hotel has received many positive comments. In fact, for guests, this hotel's public spaces - especially its lobby, bar and pool areas - seem to enhance the overall atmosphere. Visitors with children noted that the lobby and pool areas are perfect for families while many also commented that the ambience and service in the bar is excellent.

Local guests have commented that this hotel has seen better days. While the public spaces impress with their Western look, the rooms appear to be in need of cleaning and refurbishment. Some noticed musty smells, mold, dirty grouting, peeling paint and grubby floors during their stays.

Recent visitors also unfortunately noted that prices charged at check-in were different from those advertised. For some, this had a big impact on their stays.

While there appeared to be no issues with in-room air conditioning, a few guests - most notably those making use of this hotel's conference facilities - commented that the air conditioning in these parts of the hotel was very weak.
