Aladscha Monastir or Aladja Monastery is a famous rock monastery in the Bulgarian Black Sea region. It is situated within woodland, 14 kilometres from Varna - The second biggest city in Bulgaria and 3kilometres away from the sea resort of Golden Sands. The monastery is perched on top of the rocks and stands approximately 40 metres high. Visitors can see many of the original rooms including the temple, church, crypt, chapel and the living quarters and kitchens of the monks. Surrounding the monastery are many caves, which can also be visited. The opening hours are: In the summer (from May to October) every day from 10:00am to 17:00pm In the winter (from November to April) from Thursday to Saturday, from 10:00am to 17:00 p.m. Sunday and Monday it is closed. Admission prices are: Adults - 4.00lv (2 Euros) Children – 2.00 lv (1 Euro) There are free parking spaces available close to the monastary.
