Alnwick Castle has been the ancestral home of the Percy family (the Dukes of Northumberland) since the beginning of the fourteenth century. It stands within the bounds and dominates the market town of Alnwick. It remains the second largest inhabited castle in England. The castle oversees large estates and runs many local businesses. Many parts of the Castle, including the State Rooms, and grounds are open to the public during the summer months. It is perhaps most well known as a film location including the Harry Potter series.
