Aquapolis (Golden Sands, Bulgaria)
Aquapolis is a water theme park and was the first attraction of this type in Bulgaria and the largest in Eastern Europe. It is located within a natural forest on the northern fringe of the Golden Sands resort. The park covers an area of 40,000 square metres and includes water slides, climbing rocks and shooting ranges, plus fountains, waterfalls and ruined buildings. A range of different activities make it suitable for both children and adults. There are also facilities for disabled visitors. The location of Aquapolis provides views of the sea and there is a snack bar called “Alcazar” that is located within one of the rock faces. There is a large artificial lake and an amphitheatre. Parking space for 100 cars is provided but many visitors arrive by public transport which runs frequently from the resort. The park can accommodate up to 3,000 visitors. Aquapolis was built at a cost of over 5 million Euros. It is owned by the Spanish company Action Park who own over 90 similar theme parks around the world.
