Buxton Opera House first opened its doors in 1903. Since this time it has established itself as one of the UK’s leading receiving theatres, with around 450 performances every year. These performances include comedy, dance, childrens shows, music concerts, drama, pantomime and opera. It also hosts the prestigious annual Buxton festival and the International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival each August. The Buxton festival runs for 2 weeks during July and is the UK’s largest opera based festival. The Opera House is located right in the heart of this famous Spa town, making it easily accesible by both car or public transport. It is within a 5 minute walk from the railway station. The Buxton Opera House has recently been refurbished. Opening times vary depending on the performance. Prices also vary.
