Cannstatt People's Fair (Stuttgart, Germany)

The People’s Festival in Bad Cannstatt dates back to the year 1818 and started out as an annual agricultural trade fair. Over the years it has developed into the second largest beer festival in the world with around 4.5 million visitors per year. It is only surpassed by the Oktoberfest in Munich. There are 8 beer tents which are supplied by local breweries and offer seating for up to 5000 people each, live music and hot and cold dishes. A newer addition is the Stamer Hof, a further tent specialized in local wines from the vineyards of Baden and Wurttemberg. The streets of the festival site are lined with hundreds of further attractions and visitors will find hundreds of rides like roller coasters, merry-go-round, dodgems and the largest Ferris wheel in the world. Further there is a market where you can find items like clothing, stein beer tankards, kitchen utensils, cuckoo clocks and more as well as a French village and an agricultural exhibition. A parade is held on the first Sunday of the 16 day festival which starts at the end of September. For exact dates please refer to the website.
