The Castello Sforzesco in Milan was built in the 14th century but is named after Francesco Sforza who made the castle into a residence in 1450. The castle was demolished and rebuilt several times during the past, by the French, the Spanish and the Austrians. Open from 7am to 7pm daily, the castle can be reached by tram, bus or underground. The castle museum is open from 9am to 5.30pm and is closed on Mondays. Admission price is of 3€ for an adult, 1.50€ for students and persons over 65 year old. It is free for children under 18. Didactics and educational tours are proposed as well as scheduled events, lectures, presentations and exhibitions. On display are antique furnishings and art collections, there is a museum of musical instruments and a museum of ancient art. In the archaeological museum there is a pre historical section and an Egyptian section.
