Christ’s Pieces is a Victorian park laid out in the middle of the city. Although these “pieces” of land were originally owned by Jesus College, Cambridge the name derives from the nearby Christ’s College, which borders it along with the new bus station. It has been laid out with trees, shrub gardens and beds of bulbs and bedding plants and is crossed by public walkways which link the historic parts of Cambridge with the Grafton Shopping Centre. In 1999 a rose garden was dedicated to the memory of Diana, Princess of Wales. Other facilities include a bowling green, tennis courts and a playground. At one side is New Square which is surrounded by Georgian style terraces. Open continually Access is free
